Default JL 500/1 amp

Guys,

Some guy is selling me his JL 500/1 for $300 shipped (use one ofcourse). Is this a good deal?

I just recently purchased a Phoenix Gold R5.0:1 (mono) that is powering the Infinity Perfect 10.1d.

Is the JL too much for that sub? Also would the JL amp be stable/compatible (hehe) with 2ohm? My sub is dual 4ohm. Any problem with the wiring configuration? Lets say 2ohm? I am newbie

Thanks,
Tony

That's about the going price. You might be able to get new ones off of ebay for that price.

The PG and JL should be providing the same ammount of power. You should be fine.,

yes the JL is able to handle the 2ohm load. at any load between 1.5 ohms and 4 ohms it runs stable with 500 watts. unlike most amps, no matter what ohm it's hooked up at (between 1.5 and 4) it doesn't affect the power output.

I had a jl 500/1 powering two infinity perfect 10.1d subs and I felt it was underpowered. I have a jl 1000/1 sitting in my apartment right now I haven't gotten installed yet, but I'm sure it will be perfect for the subs. Just keep the gain down a little bit and you should be fine.
