Default iPod installation ?

Hi gents and ladies
I'm on order for an 05 Touring 6 speed, black, burnt orange. Should hit LB CA early Dec.

Can I hard wire an iPod, and place the wiring in the "where am I going" hole above the much ridiculed bose system.
My wife has a bose in her Pathfinder. It really is poor in comparison to the OEM Infinity system I had in my 99 GSX (just sold it for the down on the Z [only 23,500mi on it]) I'll always have fond memories of the last great Eclipse. Been lusting for a new Z since 03, so I'm in a good place.
Thanks for the help.
PS: I assume, however, that no RCA out exists.
PS2: I like the look of factory systems so hesitate to go after market. Speakers will be r&r'd, however. I will certainly read some great advice threads from this board. Nice to be along. I hope to contribute as time goes on.

Consider replacing head unit. I put in amps. speakers etc and held off on the head unti thinking the stock one was fine. I later installed an eclipse head unit and it was a drastic improvement. Consider using an alpine since they can interface with the ipod directly.

Hey jcn30127...i see you have vertical doors... I was wondering if that conversion is reversible and if u had to roll anything to get it to work.

Alpine is now making a IPOD comtroller, to be used with alpine AI-net headunit. Recommend CDA-9825, with the KCA-420I Ipod controller

Alpine's iPod interface rocks. If you want an awesome HU, get the 9835. Amazing features, and so many options to custimize.
