Default boston 12.5lf vs 10w7 vs 2 10/12 w6

hey everyone, i am starting on my system here and would like to know what's good.

regardless of the sub, i'll be running it with a 500.1 jl amp.

i went to eopinion and read some reviews i know the w7 is a nice nice sub, but it's over priced, but if it's the best out of the bunch, i'll just get it. i am trying not to spend alot onthe sub alone here.

boston proseris 12.5lf from what i've read, it's the best out of all my selections, it's pretty cheap to compared to the other's. it pounds hard and is very accurate, only negative side is it needs a huge box which i have no idea how huge.

jl w7, as mentioned before very nice sub, but overpriced in my opinion. but not very accurate.

jl w6, i heard if i got 2 of those, it'll sound better than just 1 w7. but again, not very accurate.

thanks

Are you open to any other 12"/10" or are you set on these particular models?

Why use JL when you can do just as good for half the cost and a lot better for the same cost?

well...i've found a budgetting solution so let's see what this get's me.

Alpine MRD-M501 (550 watts at 2 ohm)
2 12 alpine type r (run them at 2 ohm)

alpine type r components(front)
alpine type s speakers(rear)
uncertain on amp for that as of right now

alpine 9833 head unit

so what do ya guys think?i ma getting a very good deal on everything here. if the thing's sound good please let me know. i've heard the type r subs before and they are pretty decent. i want this to sound good, so just because i am getting a good deal doesnt mean i am 100% for it. but if it sounds like a nice set up and it's worth the deal i woudl deffinetly get it. thanks everyone.

i have almost the same set up except i have the 9835 headunit and 2 sets of 6.5 components and 2 10" type r and a mrd 501 havent gotten a chance to hook up the sub yet but the headunit and components you cant beat for the money then again ive always like alpine.

and to your previous post jl audio make very accurate subs but you are correct in the pricing issue.

how do you plan on putting 2 12s in the hatch area?

that will play a part in what i can recommend ... ie: box volume, alignment etc

I took my spare out, and flushed one 12" PPI speaker in the back with a PPI amp....sound great.

IMO, the w6v2s are better than the w7s. They hit lower and harder. The w7s are SPL speakers, and very good ones. I hear the new Boston Acoustics subs are very good too.

If you're gonna run only the 500/1, I'd go with a single sub. A single 12w6v2 with the 500/1 would sound good.

Skip the type s speakers in the rear and get the X series for the doors. Rear fill is over rated

Then you only need a strong 2 channel to run your front stage.

On the subs...everyone has there preferences, I would go with the Boston sub because nobody else has one, everyone has JL audio. (no offense to anyone, I like the w6 a whole lot)

I'm with E350z, single 12" flush mounted beats the pants off of 10" I had back there, and no rattles now. But beware, you only have 6 3/4" max (if you use a spacer) of depth. I went with MB Quart which has 5.5" mount depth. Mine is housed in Fiberglass 1.0cft enclosure custom molded to floorpan shape. You will have a majorly fun time trying to get (2) 12's back there but at least one person here has done it. I like the single because I have a cover I can slip over it, which when on gives me my full trunk space to carry whatever I like and makes it very stealth.

I tried S-type in past too..not impressed. Concentrate on front speakers. Alpine Amps iMO are nice for the price. I use an M350 and F240.

i love my 10w7...especially since i only paid $250 and got warranty and it was new

i'm happy with the way it sounds for rap, rock and techno. it's a hell of a lot better than the two 10w3v2s i had before.
