Actually sometimes you may need to access the internet, so you can pull over, connect using your cell phone, get the info you need, then get back on the road. Although, I must admit that using the internet while DRIVING is a bad idea
It's just a nice feature since sometimes I find something on the internet, go to the store, but forget the model number/etc. In cases like those I always wish I had internet access!

I think you did a great job installing it.

It seriously effects sound quality.
I am running CC Car frontend right now and Route 66 Navigation. I have also just purchased a T-mobile bluetooth phone and it syncs up to the mac. I also have a 19.99 T-mobile internet connection. I am constantly connected to the net through my bluetooth/internet phone. Its really fun.

Couple questions. What did you use to fabricate a mount with for the Mini?
What is "CC Car?" How does the Mac Mini work with the touchscreen? Can you move the mouse around by pointing with your finger? Do you need special software for that? What GPS are you using with the Mac and where did you mount the antenna?
Thanks!
You are the man!!! I told my bestfriend I wanted to install the mini in my Z since I 1st saw the Mini... But I had not a clue about how to even begin to do it or who to go to... A few audio shops I asked about it looked at me like I was on crack or saomething... Its definatly something I will be doing very soon. Hope you don't mind if I PM you when I begin.
How's the sound quality running Mp3's threw the mini's headphone jack and threw your Headunit?
Can you notice a difference? That is my only concern with doing this project, yes it's cool as hell, but I don't want to sacrifice my sound quality.
TIA!

sorry to drag up an old thread, but i just saw this and think its great.
I wanted to repeat the previous question: what brand/model is the touchscreen? Since it looks to fit very nicely in the stock compartment AND you can close the door, this is a pretty important detail.
Second, if you or anyone else knows the answer ... there was discussion about hoooking this up to the stock system. I'm wondering how that would work in terms of playing MP3s. The stock stereo signals the stock amp to turn on, correct? (i have the bose system) So, if playing through the computer, would you need to have the stock stereo on? If you went through the FM modulator, this would obviously be necessary, but if you wanted a better sound ... well, I guess you'd have to tap into the amp signal wire? But is there a way to do this from the mac mini?
Thanks for any answers.

Don't know what brand maxipad uses but from research I know the xenarc models fit perfectly and mine will be arriving within the week.
I Don't think it's possible to use the stock headunit to play Mp3's threw....however, if you have an aftermarket system that is driven by independent amps you can just bypass the headunit all together and have everything run threw the computer and touch screen interface.
