Looks great. How is the bluetooth feature? Also, is the volume on the mic good while you are driving (e.g. people you call can hear you well)? Thanks!!!

Actually I found it cheaper here:

http://www.6ave.com/product.jsp?zipz=11001&x=AVICZ1&w=1

$1545.06 including shipping and 1 year manufacturer's warranty.

Yeah I was looking at the reputability of this company earlier today, not the best. I always prefer to order from a retailer that I know someone else has ordered the same product from. I would be willing to pay 5% more for that satisfaction. If we want to get down and dirty I found it here for $100 less:
http://www.fotoconnection.com/viewit...RefTag=froogle
but their customer satisfaction is dirt.
Also found a couple on ebay for <$1400 but guess what... its probably a sham.

Again, I would order from a "crutchfield" but not for $2250.

6th Ave Electronics is actually a legit bricks-and-mortar chain of stores here in NJ, they have 10 locations... similar to a more high end version of Best Buy. i would definitely buy from them, especially at that price

well im no expert, the sound quality to me of the stock unit was good, on the forums i hear alot of opinions about how crappy the bose system is, i thought i was fine in the 06'

with that in mind, the new HU sound is good also, i can hear no difference really unless i start using all the eq functions on the new HU. it sounds great to me.

the nav functions are great, its been really acurate so far. I will get some pictures of it in actions tomorrow.

I was going to order from them, but no one answered the phone when i called, I try to make sure the companies i order from have staff on the phones, so that in case there is a problem you have a live person for follow up.

"speed sensor wire that you have to tap is located on the middle grey AC control unit, it is the only sold white wire"

Can you clarify this a bit. The AC control unit is white. Do you mean the gray connector in the middle on the back?

Another question. My metra wiring kit only has 2 white connectors. The stock non-bose radio has a third brown connector. Anyone know what that is for?

Thanks,
Ray

Default AVIC-Z1 $1490 Shipped Plus Security Bypass Module

Cheapest price I've found is: $1,490 (including shipping):

TaxFree.com - AVIC Z1 $1,490 w/shipping

I'm ordering mine today along with an SIR-PR2 Sirius adapter.

I'm also ordered the bypass module that does the headlight flash by-pass trick for you automatically. Something many of us need since we have HID headlights:

yes, on the white box, in the back the middle grey connector. peel back the wire cover thing and you will find a white wire, thats it.

about the blue tooth, i have used this alot now. to the person you are calling it sounds like you are on a speakerphone while you are driving on the highway, but the sound is clear and they can hear you fine. (keep in mind i have stock exhaust still) i have had no one tell me that the sound sucks. if you are stopped the sound is the same as if you had the phone up to your ear, they cant even tell. i love the BT feature, i use it daily, make sure you mount your mic on the left side up high on the skinny part on the left hand side of the windshield.

Thanks for the detailed answer. I hope Kenwood comes out with its BT module soon!

Default XM Tuner, Bluetooth and Ipod Interface Location

I got a place for the Ipod Interface, what about the XM tuner and the Bluetooth unit. Where did you place it?

bluetooth unit i just put behind dash, it will penetrate plastic up, approx range is 10-25ft maybe 30ft. XM antenna i mounted ontop of dash next to gps ant, i had to drill a tiny hole for the wires so the ant wires do not obstruct the dash fitting to the front of the car.

sounds like you do not have all the wires connected correctly. i would take it apart and start again. what i did was just use the wire harness even though some of the colors did not match, you need to look up the color codes for the wires on the 06'

lets say comming out from the radio the power (red) went to harness (white) i would just connect the white wire from the harness to the red power from the car. and so fourth, i didnt want to cut any wires from the harness. this works great but you need to figure out each wire from the car first.
