Very yummy! That head unit trim piece looks AMAZING ! I want one...the metra kit is versatile and a very good fit, but this blows the metra kit away for sure...good install.

I am curious about 1 thing....you sub box looks very small. Where is all the airspace coming from for that sub to work properly ? I thought Boston Pro's needed like 1 cuft for optimal performance ? MY 10W6v2 enclosure is larger than yours and I barely squeeked .625 cuft out of my design...hmm. Maybe your installer is using soem of your tire well area for enclosure volume ? But, I can't tell from your pics...

Very nice, stealth design ! And thanks for mentioning me, I am glad you could use my Nav conversion mod.

It is a custom job, not a dash kit. Just bring the pics to a local shop that does good fiberglass/plexiglass work.

I really like what you did here. Very Original though something is bothering my eye when I look at it... Not sure I think its the shall we say bluntness of it. We have stereo then nothing. Any one else get that?? But nice job!! By the way what head unit is that exactly?

That is why I had the installer make those 6 squares and the "Z" below it. It has the amber LEDs in the squares too. Unfortunately there is no good double-din anywhere close to the Alpine. It is an Alpine 7894. Thanks for the honest opinion (it's a refreshing change from the PC crap world we live in).

Default Head Unit

I am preparing to rip out all audio pieces and am extremely worried about my head unit install. No offense , but the "Z" and the lights are way out there! I can't help but despise the idea of sticking my Alpine CDA-9815 with it's flat face into my very curved console face. But , I don't know what else to do and you have obviously found a very acceptable compromise. I wish I knew of a place around me that could do that sort of thing.

I didn't try. The best location for bass in the car is in the rear, with the sub firing up. Ask any car audiophile. It supposedly sounds like horse$hit if the sub is in the factory location (from people that have done it on this forum)

So...no group buy on this awesome head unit kit ? I still want one...I don't care about hte leds, or any lights, but the surround looks great.

Let me know if you or your installer ever decides to make anymore of these, and count me in for 1 !

Thanks.

It is not engraved. He painted it on the back of the plexiglass! It really does look stock. I am SO happy I replaced the stock HU......man that thing sucks. The alpine allows for perfect imaging

Hi Gish
I love your Sub Install! HU is cool to!
Don't you have any other pix of the box, like work in progress or box outside the car??? How is it fixed? How thick, how many layers does it have? Approx what volume does it have?

Would really appreciate some infos!

So, you had the installer build the sub box? How much airpsace is it and what did he charge? I was going to put mine in the stock location, but I'd much rather just put the amps there and the sub in the back, but I wasn't sure I could squeeze the .5+ cubic feet in that spot.

I am looking at Alpine Head Units in that price range of the one you got.

Why did you go with the Alpine 7894 versus similarly priced models from Alpine?

I'm having trouble figuring out what the big differences are between them...

Well the newer ones don't have the orange lights that match our dash
