Skip the power cells and go straight for the Mr. Fusion setup.

Nice, big amp. Was it re-spec'd when your friend re-conditioned it? Oxidation=noise. Just curious how it re-tested.

I have an old, old Concord HU with a Dolby C noise reduction unit in my closet.
You wanna buy it from me

I plan on having it tested to find out the real power output numbers. Right now the focus is on getting the install done. It's been several weeks since I had bass and I'm going through withdraw

Mr Fuzion.. thats a pretty good obscure reference

Yeah thats the smaller one they released after the 300 original Franks. 4 channels as opposed to the Franks 6 channels. They did not include the AX-406A crossover with the "Son" EDIT they did include a crossover, just a different one. With 4 days and 22 hours left, I'll have to watch that one and see how much it goes for out of curiosity

I used to have an MS-275 amp and an MPS-2240 amp with an EQ-215X tossed in the mix, I could kick myself for leaving it in the car when I sold it, but that was half the reason I got 3 grand for a Prelude with 150k miles on it

Default Nother update and some pics

So the warehouse was out of the 4ohm subs so they have to come from TN. I should have those by Tuesday. The metal brackets should be done by Wednesday. I might have to "stop by" the shop this week to get my sub box finished. Anyhow, here's some shots I took today with the cell phone

The modified stealthbox. Carpet on the face removed, ready for the new MDF faceplate. Shame on you JL for using such cheesey wires inside!

The new MDF faceplate took a little longer since I had to pick up a rabbet bit

Covering the new faceplate with vinyl requires a little padding to be applied

A little guff tossed torwards the boss and he decided to apply the padding (promised he would do the vinyl on Monday, we'll see.. )

This is one of the subs. This one is a 2 Ohm so its not one of mine, but visually its the same. Can you say nice surround?

Ahh cast basket construction yum! no more stamped metal basket for me.

For comparison here are the 10W3v2 JL subs I took out of the stealthbox

They're getting a little dusty...

I hear ya on that one, Ive been up in the air about the goofy graphics on the original plexi. I do have a plain piece already cut. I guess I'll decide on that when everything else is done.

Default Another update

I received the raw sheet metal and after a lot of measuring, my brother completed the amp riser. 16 gauge sheet metal is not the easiest to bend but he did a fantastic job (Thanks Douglas!!!!). Two fans at each end will be installed to keep the amp cool

Here's more pics of his craftsmanship, this was a flat sheet of steel when he started.

Being the perfectionist he is, he did the first bend and requested more measurements for the battery tray holding the two Kinetik HC800 power cells

All planned out ready to be cut and bent

It should be finished tomorrow. Then its off to the shop for the final stage of the install.

This is my kinda install, more POWA. I love that amp, I was thinking of doing the big McIntosh in my install, but I just had no where to put it. I can't wait to see your install when its done.

Default More progress

The battery tray is done. Just needs a few pieces of rubber to keep the power cells in place and a few whacks with a dead blow to even the lines out.
I could use some ideas on how to cover it, anyone? just prime and paint? carbon fiber?

The amp riser needs to be lowered by 1.5 inches

On the order sheet for tomorrow:
  • 3 pairs of SHX12RCA's
  • 3 pairs of SHX3 RCA's
  • 2 Stinger SF3N 12 Volt Large Crosslow Fans

  • 1 Stinger 12 Volt Adjustable Fan Controller

I'm hoping to get the resized amp riser and the last of the parts by Tuesday
It would be great to get everything together on my Birthday

sooooo close now
