I use to have a really old orion amp that was huge.. I loved that amp. It was bright red, I forget what model.

I also had a white and black zapco 1,200 watt, which was really big.

But I think I like this one more then both of them combined.

You had some fantastic amps. They still command a premium on ebay. From your sig, your current setup isnt too shabby either.

Thumbs up More.. and reflections....

My brother really went out of his way to cut and drop the amp riser this morning after an 8 hour 3rd shift. I'm waiting for him to wake up now so we can test fit.

Looks like my "reminder" phone call on Friday to my boss to order the cables and fans paid off, but I dont think they're going to be untill Wed/Thur so I'm rescheduling my day off this week. Ordering from Stinger directly takes three days especially when you wait till 3pm Friday to order (but there is lot of stuff going on at the shop right now and paying customer have to be the priority).

I realized that all the custom work being done and components and raw materials would probably cost nearly 5-6k if I was paying full price even at cost I dont want to sit down and calculate all the money spent on AV so far..... Wait till I mention monitors in the back..... I already hit her with the 4 inch CDT's in the kick panels, I dont think she can take much more. "But honey, it'll be a true three way setup"...

How bad have I abused the wifes good nature? Lets see...
  1. 20ft of 4 gauge; 50ft of 12 gauge spkr wire
  2. 1 pair of CDT 6.5 components up front
  3. 1 pair of Wicked Cas door pods finished and painted Silverstone
  4. 1 Stinger in line breaker
  5. 5 Stinger expert 4 gauge rings (One at the batt and four on the cap... will probably need more to install dual battery setup...)
  6. 1 Stinger 1 fd Cap w/digital display (thinking about taking this out)
  7. 1 Pioneer Avic-Z1 head Unit
  8. 1 Pioneer ND-BT1 Bluetooth adapter
  9. 1 pair of Phoenix Gold co-axials in the rear (Thinking about just disconnecting these to focus on the front stage)
  10. 1 Farenheit lp-c1 reverse camera
  11. 1 Pioneer GEX-P10XMT XM with Navtraffic
  12. 80 sq ft of e-Dead sound deadener
  13. 1 JL Stealthbox modified and loaded with..
  14. 2 Memphis M3 10' subs
  15. 2 Kinetik HC800 Batteries
  16. Second glovebox behind the drivers seat
  17. Vinyl padding
  18. Vinyl for the new stealthbox face} I aint paying for that! I seen the roll we have..
  19. Liquid Nails
  20. 1 Rabbet Bit for new stealthbox face (Didn't have one a the shop )
  21. 2 pcs of 16 Gauge Stainless Steel sheet metal 36x24 and 24x24
  22. 2 CDT 4' speakers in the front kicks
  23. 1 Phoenix gold Frank Amp'n Stein with an AX406-A Crossover
  24. 3 Pairs 12ft RCA's
  25. 3 Pairs 3ft RCA's
  26. 2 Fans
  27. 1 Fan Thermostat
  28. 1 Phoenix Gold remote bass control
  29. 1 Phoenix Gold remote voltage display
  30. Unknown amout of MDF and fiber glass. Havent gotten that far yet
And I'm relying on the guidance of the full time installer at the shop to pull it altogether (I've installed lots of audio equipement but never handled any custom installs like this). I'm not too proud; I know when to turn it over to a pro.

OMG...

Here are the pics from the amp riser re-cut

The lip the amp sits on has been shortened and is now flush with the amp

"Fine Tuning" the riser

Since Im going through bass withdraw and this could possibly take another week + I'm installing an amp and sub along with a Sirius tuner in my X-terra today.

This is one hell of a cool project! I love the massive amp and the funky theme... please keep the original plexi!!!

About the current prices for the Frank Amp'n Stein FAS2300: please take a seat son... how do US$5K to US$7.5K for a perfect condition one sound?? Believe it or not, this seems to be the range for the limited edition FAS2300 today (good to mint condition!!!)

You really hit the jackpot with this one: a real collectors item. Congrats and keep us updated on your project!

Strap it to the roof. It'll leave you with plenty of interior space why maintaining maximum bass.

Wow, I've never seen one for sale. I would have to say its pretty near mint condition given all the original paper work original packaging and flawless condition. I'll take that seat now

Hey I forgot about the cooling factor. That's a definite one up on the exterior mounting.

Cool Updates, changes and of course more delays!!

So, I took the day off expecting the my latest shipment of parts to arrive. But I got to the shop this afternoon... just in time to watch the ups guy jump in his truck and drive away without bringing any goodies into the shop
Damn you Stinger!!

But there were lots of other things that needed to be addressed so I got busy and took more pics.
  1. Upgraded from 4 gauge to 2 gauge

So much for my nice 4 gauge terminals

The old wire compared to the new wire

The Avic Z1 comes out yet again

Gonna need a quick release for it soon

2. Remove the last parts of the old setup (rear speakers, 4 channel amp and lots of wiring)

3. Bit the bullet and ran new speaker wire into the doors (wasnt that bad)

Our discussion turned to one of sound quality and proper imaging SOOOO
Here's the new speaker setup

2 channels of the amp are going to run 2 CDT EuroSports in the rear, and 2 in the doors.

The other 2 channels are going to run 4' CDT EuroSports and tweeters in fiberglass kick panels (no pics yet)

The other side of the amp will run the subs

Turns out the installer is going on vacation next week so in the meantime I can install the new Euro's in the front and rear and add more sound deadening.

Anyone wanna trade sail panels that are already cut for tweets?

Thumbs up A little more progress

A slow day at the shop is always fine by me. I had time to work on the sub box and its finally finished. I'm dropping the car off tomorrow evening to get the fabricated finishing touches put on.
I've installed the CDT Eurosports in the doors and the rear. I also added a lot more sound deadening. This week the fiberglass kickpanels will be created the battery tray, crossover and Frank will be installed. Here's some shots from the camera phone of the modified stealthbox

Getting the vinyl ready

Wrapped up..

In car shots, I need to put more interior back in before I anchor it down
