Default Sure is nice going back to 3-4 days installs lol little 06 ZR set up...

after working for so long on the big lexus IS350 project, its a great relief to go back to what i enjoy doing hte most: building simple, clearn and SQ oriented installs in 3-4 days hehe

car is a 06 Z roadster

goals:

1. good SQ, ability to hear everything nice and clear top down on the hwy

2. maintain a clean simple appearance

3. save as much trunk space as possible.

lets get started:

upfront, the signal starts with a pioneer 6800 7" LCD 6 disc dvd/cd/mp3 changer, installed int he facotory slot.

stock nav voice is fully retained by routing the signal through the stock bose amp and plays pretty loud out of hte left REAR stock speaker

a pair of DLS ultimate iridium 6.2 6.5" two way comps reside in suede trimed kick panels:

for the sub, a wicked cas roadster box was used...

first the area in the stock bose location was dampened:

and a single DLS ultimate iridium 10" subwoofer went into the box:

and hten secured to the car:

moving onto the trunk, a single dls reference RA50 5 channel amp powers the entire system, sending 70 watts to each mid and tweeter, and around 400 watts to the sub.

since the goal was to save as much room in the trunk as possible, i stripped the front carpeting off, and made an amp rack that went against hte back wall, its secured via some screw and two bolts from INSIDE the top folddown stowage area, super solid...

here is a shot with the wiring:

and here is to show that hte spare tire still fits fine for easy removal:

now, with this design, i really ate up only abouyt 2.5" of real trunk space...i made a black suede front panel wtih a cut out, and secured mesh over hte opening to protect the amp, and ifnally tookt he DLS logo off the amp and stuck it on the mesh...

done...simple but effective, quick drive on the highway confirms that goal number 1 has definetly been achieved...

Looks good, I really like the fact that you rerouted the audio signal from the Nav to one of the speakers. I have Nav as well and when upgraded my HU I lost the voice. Is this a simple thing to fix? Please PM me the details, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

it is...but there are some intricate things you need to do...first i suggest getting hte scosche bose adapter, this kicks down the HISS you have going on with the stock bose system, even though its one sepaker, it gets annoying whem its behind your head.

then basically when you wire the car in, take the nav voice output wires and plug it into the rear left signal input off the adapter, so when the nav talks, it talkes through the rear left speaker.

I purchased and wired in this adapter when I replaced my HU, so I simply wire the output wires for the nav to one of the speakers and thats it? I can wire it along with the output wires of my HU? Also which are the output wires for the nav audio? Oh and how do I wire the radio to mute when the nav speaks or will it play over my music, I know my HU has a mute feature with a wire for it in the back of the unit? Thanks again for the help!

htanks doug, i wouldnt call it sick really, the goal was to make it classy and clean, versus the "sick" "crazy" kind of layout you know?

hehe supraforums? sure...but from experience those guys are more concnered with performance than audio, and when it comes to audio, more with show than true SQ hehe, i mean, they have one of the worst front interiors for SQ hehe
