yes, it fits with some modifications (read cutting)
here is what I did:
1) got some construction paper and traced a template of the
monitor and cut it out so that it fit over the back.
2) Once the template sat on the little lip on the back of the
monitor I traced the template onto the front of the nav slot.
3) I had to cut out about 1/8" on left side and about 1/4" on
the right side of the nav area plastic. I used a combination of
dremel and razor knife to trim away the plastic up to the inside
of the lines I had traced.
4) Then I cut a little - test fit - cut a little - test fit until it sat
flush in the area.
5) Hot glued the 4 back corners of the lcd to the console plastic from the backside.
6) I still need to trim off some of the plastic runners from the backside of the door. It rides along the top of the display. It still
closes fine but I think it could be better.
7) and finally, I'll have to trim off some of the cover that sits at the
bottom of the nav area that hides the head unit screws.
Others have installed it behind the plastic with equal amounts of work, it's just a matter of making smoother cuts since the plastic
will sit in front of the lcd instead of behind it.
Here is a picture of how it should look in the end. (not my picture)

That looks great..
I'm picking this up today and install over the weekend. Thanks for the info. I have one more question. The dedicated RGB input for Alpine NAV system, does it look like a standard RGB/VGA? I'm trying to find out if I have to have a Vdeo card with Composit video from my car PC or use the monitor out from the PC directly into RGB/VGA input of the monitor... Thanks,

Do you guys know what the difference is between the 760 and the 750, I found a 750 for sale for $250. I can't find any info or specs on it, they look similar (?).

The connections into the "brain" are Left-Right-Composite (RCA)
Just like the input from a vcr or dvd or dss audio /video device.
It doesn't have a 15 pin vga D connector
And it doesn't have component inputs like like Y-Pb-Pr & RGB.
from the pdf manual on the alpine.com web site:
