How long does the Copilot take to initialize?
I setup my usb earthmate and streetplus2003 on a laptop at work, started the initialize process and the last time I checked it still can't find a sat at 30+ minutes. I am on the 24th floor with a clear view of the horizon. I wonder if autodetect is not detecting the com port correctly. Anyone with the earthmate/streetplus have any feedback?

 

It has to be clear right above the receiver (antenna).

The signal can go through thin plastic but not the roof of a building or car for that matter.

 

I think it depends. on cloudy days it takes longer. on a bright sunny day its like a second or two. I think it can go thru the car, I mean Dr. Bonz done it. The way I did mines has only the plastic dash to go thru.
