Default to those that own the under-the-strut sub boxes

Hey guys, i currently own a 12" alpine type-r sub, and i was undertaking a project to build a box for it, but i have realized that i will be taking up too much of my trunk, and i really would rather have an under-strut box.

I know zenclosures sells one, but i dont have $160 to drop on a box. I have the wood, i have the experience, i just dont have the measurements. Do any of you think you can get me the measurements on your under-the-strut boxes for a single 10" sub?

Thanks ahead of time!

Just for clarification, i AM buying a 10" version of the type-r.

I would also be interested in the dimensions for under the strut. Even for a spare tire sub box dimensions.

wouldnt it be just as easy for you to measure the area around the strut bar, front and back for the side walls of the box?

The actual box enclosure portion would be calculated by the necessary room the woofer needs, correct?

yeppers just came across this thread and thought I would see what comes out of it. I'm making my box this weekend...the stock location is okay but I can't stop all of the plastic from rattling so I'm just going to make a spare tire box to keep my trunk space.

I was just looking around, single 10'' Zenclosures are $130, and come to ~$110 with the 15% coupon they have right now.

Yeah I got a quote for 165 Canadian Shipped for the single 10 under strut. Not bad at all but I can make it for 50 bucks. Since I have a couple days until the weekend I thought I would see if anyone had plans for a box they had built.

LOL that's a little too intense for what I'm looking for. If I still had the trunk space of my Celica or RSX I would have thrown my two 12's in the Z but I don't think the box would even fit in the trunk let alone save trunk space! One single 10 is enough to give decent base the the Z I think. You only need 1-1.5 ft^3 for a single 10 anyways.

Did you finish the interior or is it left exposed like that?

It is easily removable. It would make it a little more difficult as you would have to lift up the cover while pulling out the tire but it is possible with the box still in the car.

but yeah, if you built a box, you could always make a hinged false floor so you can get to the spare

I ended up building a box under the strut this weekend. I just reproduced the zenclosure single 10 under strut box from pictures. It was a little tricky getting the box to fit perfectly. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. It was easy enough to do with a jigsaw and table saw.

Definitely good choices with HAT. I would pick those over Hertz as well. Why not do a 2way right now until you save up for the Legatia 8s? I LOVE the HAT L1 Pro tweets. Very sexxxxxy tweeters.

I don't think I saw what the rest of the system will be looking like. What are the rest of the equipment list?

havnt decided on the amps for the 3 way and i want to go with an IDMax 10"
