Mine shuts down by itself. It has a special power unit that can be set for up to a 20 minute delay. I just put Windows XP into hibernation mode and all I do is turn the key and it opens up right were it left behind. The delay is set at 20 minutes so if I just shut down for a short stop, it comes on instantly when I start up again.

aalzuhair I didn't realize how I have hijacked your thread. I apologize. I was just trying to answer others questions. Sorry about the 'jacking!

This is an excerpt from a post from Chazzz who designed and sold me my PC:

".....Power Supply(s)

There are three power Supply Options:

1. A simple DC to DC this is the less costly of the three. 12vDC form the car in to a 12v Dc power supply pc board. this unit will have to be manually turned on and off by the power switch on the MAIN unit.BUT starting the car WITH the unit on Might Cause the Computer to restart.

2. The second type is a little more plus $40-50 it is a power converter from 12vDC to 120vAC this is the easiest hook up just wire in the converter(you can even plug it into the Cig lighter) then just plug a Regular household 120v plug into it(it has two plug-ins) but has the same prob as above.

3. Now this one is cool and it is the most costly (almost +$200 more) but it is Very cool. it is an actual Microchip controlled power supply Especially designed for in car uses
Features:

SFX DC-DC smart power supply is designed specifically for ATX motherboards to be used in an automotive environment. This product brings a new dimension to your PC’s mobility. Just get in your vehicle and start the engine; your PC is ready to go. When you switch off the ignition the PC can go into shut down, standby or hibernate modes automatically, no switch to
fiddle or fuss!

The SFX DC-DC Power supply has a micro-controller that controls and monitors various functions of the power supply operation. It monitors automobile battery voltage to protect against deep discharge. The ignition lead is monitored to start the PC when the ignition is turned on and to implement a safe shutdown procedure. It controls and monitors motherboard signals to provide smooth power-up and power down sequences. In addition, it also responds to shut down, stand-by and hibernate modes.
The power supply can be programmed to shut down the PC after a delay of up to one hour.

The power supply outputs are monitored to assure proper PC operation. A green LED indicator in the power supply continually indicates the power system status and health. It is also used for troubleshooting. There are features that are built-in for trouble-free and safe PC operation. The input power is protected against transients, load dumps and double battery during jumpstarts. The PC does not reboot during engine start or cranking. It also uses state-of-the-art technologies and the most advanced techniques to maximize efficiency, performance and reliability. Simply put, there is no other PC power supply like it."

Here is a URL with the power supply I have (it's called Opus). This one is 90W. I am not sure what mine is but if you are really interested, contact Chazzz here on this site. He'll know much more than I.

Yep. I have a rubber flexible keyboard. You can see it on top of the CPU in the pic I posted above. I have Windows XP Professional installed.

Post connect pc to bose

Hi, I am new to this topic!! I am trying to do the same thing as you guys, and have been doing some research for a while! I didn't acutally do it yet, but have found out a way to connect the PC to the bose system!!

connection:

postive signal to termanil 30
nigative signal to termail 32
5V from power supply to the termanil 24
gnd to termail 31

if you wanna turn off the connection, just simply short 24 to gnd!!(add a swtich or somthing)

Hope this help

That is just for power. aalzuhair was looking 4 a way to hook up the audio.

Doc Your PS is the 150w version, the 90w was not out yet when you got your unit.

Now all of my V2.0 units come with the 90w "smart" Power Supply. the 90w have some advantages over the 150w. the 150w will not turn off all power to the main board, causing all the usb stuff to stay on. This has caused some batt failures in cars that are not driven everyday. but with the 90w its a non issue.

Yes, I’m still looking for a way the last thing I tried was to hook up an FM modulator and the sound was extremely bad (too much noise) anyway, I took it out and I’m still using the good old Kenwood tape adapter, I had that for more than 10 years and still works like the day I got it.

Most of the "Noise" you are getting is maybe because of your power supply set up. Fm mods are very sensitive to Electrical interferences. Some of my early models had that issue. also you can try to "Turn Down" the volume on the PC. A Fm Mod is designed for Line level input, so if you but to much "power" into it it will distort the sound quality

Yah, I agree, but the FM modulator was next the HU not the PC and I was running RCA wires from the PC to it. So, it was not next to the PC power supply, or did i miss something?

Also, do you recommend any good FM modulator, so I can try it again (One last time)?

Thanks,

Az

Hmm... This is not for power!! This is a way that how you hook up computer's audio (or any audio) to the bose or non-bose system!!

audio postive signal to termanil 30
audio nigative signal to termanil 32
5V from power supply to the termanil 24
gnd to termanil 31

When you give a 5v(from your power supply or any source) to the HU's termanil 24, and you will hear the pc's audio!! Please eamil me or reply to me if you have any question!! I just got my car(wait for 4 months), and now installing the speakers. Hopefully, I will start installing the pc b4 june!!

Duncan

All you need is a wire to hook the pc's sound card to the bose system (4 dolllars)
a switch (2 to 4 dollars)
and 1 more wire to atx 5v(any one you want) (2 dollars)

So the total is like less than 10 dollars!! The only draw back is that you can only get a mono singal!! Which means you can only have your left or right channel!! I will try to do a write up on how you hook the stuff up! Give me a few days!!
