mother board and cpu 100 - 180
depends on what you need
memory, 50 to 100 depends on how much you need it to be!!
harddrive, 50 to 100 depends on hou big you need it to be!!

cd rom or dvd rom 50 to 100
the total cost will be like 700 to 900 without the GPS

Single Din PC / Touch Screen Xbox / GPS
I am looking in to configuring something similar to this, except with an Xbox as the brains of the operation. I was wondering - with the software used in this example and that same display, will touch screen control be possible? Is that something that you could use if I was running Linux on the XBOX? That is my biggest concern - having to navigate through my "dashboard" with the XBOX controller.
One more question - anyone out there with a PC set up have GPS? If so, how is that done?

Is there any reason I can't put a laptop in the storage compartment? I don't understand why there is a need for an exotic $1000 homemade computer when I can buy a new laptop for $700.

Does it really work?
Do you have to be in a certain mode to hear PC audio? i.e. Tape or AM/FM
Do you hear the PC audio even if you are listening to CD's or Radio?
Does the PC audio override the other audio or do you hear both types of audio?
