Yes... Newb here.

I wanted to make sure that within my budget, I'm getting the best I can while maintaining an easy install.

I'm not looking for accuracy. I'm looking more for a "feel me a block a way" type of sound.

BUDGET=$3000.00

HU=Kenwood 8120=$1,600simply because of the Nav and the preamp out voltage.
Please recommend bracket

SPEAKERS=Factory bose. I really don't crank the volume and for my ears the bose speakers are clear enough.

BIG 3 UPGRADE=ED 4 gauge kit for $35... Less you audio guru's state I should get 0 gauge?

BATTERY=Yellow top optima for $160 to minimalize battery voltage drop.

CAPACITOR=None. I won't go into why as that will cause controversy.

SUBS=ED 11Kv.2 4ohm 10's for $180. I chose these cause they seem to match up with the airspace in the box (click link below for specs) Ideally I'd love to knock houses over but space/box size is my number 1 priority.

BOX=ED's vehicle specific dual 10 for $110 I chose these cause they have the specific amount of air space needed for two 10" 11kv.2 subs rather then me calling Zenclosures and custom making me one. Plus these also fit under the strut bar.

POWER KIT=ED 4 gauge for $75 but the tech at ED stated I should get an 8 gauge as this 4 gauge will not be needed and I won't see any gains from it.

AMP=Nine.2x because the tech recommended it and it is rated at 12.5 volts. And as we all know our cars when turned on run at higher volts then that, thus when bridged to these two 10's will push the subs just right and most likely have me running at around 370RMS to each sub "give or take" some watts of course.

SOUND DEADNING=Dynomat xtreme throughout the whole car.

TOTAL=$2800-2900 AFTER TAXES AND ALL

All that said. Yes, I'd love to crush some houses and cause more headaches then my gf's mouth running 90 to nothing. But, trunk space is my main priority.

I want to make sure there isn't anything else I need to purchase.

Is a 4 gauge power kit overkill and waste of money?

Should I really go with z enclosure box over ED's box?

Are there some other 10's out there that when mated to say a z enclosure box would provide more bass as opposed to this setup above?

3000$ Budget and you want to keep the factory stock speakers? Terrible mistake. That's a pretty good budget, you could do a whole lot better then that. I would look at z enclosures over ed boxes.

 

Zenclosure FTW! get some damn components... if your going to turn it up to the "feel me a block a way" level the bose will sound like some one dropped a load all over your system

i agree with the above. Many good components are better then stock for pretty cheap.

 

I would go for one nice quality 10" to save weight and money, then use the extra cash for some components.

If you want to focus on BASS, than please, go ahead and focus on bass -- drop 2/3 or 3/4 of your budget on your sub stage, but PLEASE don't completely IGNORE your woofers/mids and tweets! Get a cheap (~100-150) used 2 way amp and some $150-200 compsto run with that sub! Check out used prices and pickup a good 2 channel amp and some Image Dynamics CTX65CS comps (~$160) -- and then spend the rest on your subs and sub amp. If you don't ppur some thogut into your front stage your gonna have a shole lota bass and nothin else -- and (IMO) it'll sound pretty weak.

Also: do you really need Nav? If you don't need nav there's a whole lotta really nice HU choices out there for half that price. More money for subs and amps, right?

Don't forget sound deadening and wiring costs: I'm spending roughly $300 on just those to things for the install I am working on.

 

Nav is a must, since I'm traveling so much. But I agree with the points you made. I just assumed on upgrading components a month or two down the line. And, yea... The wiring and deadening materials are very expensive.
