Performance
I agree that would be the smart think to do. BUT one of friends had a powerchip program done and they did send out the laptop and the required cables. Will try to find out if he needed to give them a validation number
As I have mentioned before, providing it would work, I would be more than happy to put my money in.
Do any of you guys know if there is performance difference between the titanium and ss muffler Hi tech make?

Just to keep up to date, will be doing the dyno runs tomorrow 24/04, first a base run, car std,. except for hyper grounding kit.
Second add Hi-Tesh SS exhaust do run, thirdly add K&N filter do final run. I hope to video the events and post real soon.

The only difference will be in the weight which in its self is a performance increase, I'm hoping Lambros will manufacture a full Cat Back system in titanium and not just the muffler if you've seen the standard set up you'll know what I mean (heavy). Just to correct my info regarding the weight's of the SS exhaust and the standard one this is now they weight out tonight, I've just refitted the std exhaust for the base dyno run in the morning.
Standard = 17kg Hi-Tech SS = 10kg
Must get car under 1400kg!!!

I'd want to see before and after dynos for that money and be there throughout the process.
I've never heard of any ECU detuning itself when you add a CAI or exhaust. Some do take some time to learn before you'll see an improvement but this I've never heard of.

Yep u can apsilon
When i was looking at a 156 GTA, i was told by Prestige that u could fit a sunroof with the curtain airbags, but had to refrabricate a custom roof lining......i was thinking great, Alcantara roof lining by Blackmans
Ive seen pics of cars from the US with a sunroof. With the slooping roofline it slides over the roof, Calibra style if uve seen one. My bro had a Calibra 4x4 Turbo back when they were cool, and i liked how the roof sat. But with that look, ud want to go with a steel roof rather than glass, as the glass looks weird sitting over the roof.
I think ill b the guinea pig myself and get it done when the car arrives, i cant stand driving without the roof raised at least, even in the wet.

Actually I saw a pic on this forum just the other day and it didn't look right to me the way it sat when opened. I've just come from driving a soft top for 9 years. Having a solid roof is a novelty to me right now
Its not the ideal aesthetic look for the roof to slide over, but then again it doesnt look all that bad. What i didnt like with the Webasto sunroof....as installed on cars in these forums....is to me the opening seems to be positioned too far back from the start of the windscreen. Tho i think each installer's fit would be different, and Prestige may be able to position the opening a bit more forward, and in doing so create a greater area for the opening.
This would have to be discussed with Prestige, but as one of the first things ill b doing when the car arrives, ill keep everyone posted as new information arrives.

I'll be interested to see what you come up with. I can't help feeling that given the popularity of the new Z a different solution will hit the market within a year. That usually happens to me just after I buy something.

There's the story, Powerchip is based in South Melbourne and they require you to take your car to them. The laptop mention is a specialized Hitachi unit, they take your ECU program copy it and then modify it ( re-flash it) so each Z is different, this requires you to leave your car there for the day. The mods are to the ignition and fuel maps only, he did mention that the 350Z's ECU does detune the car after adding things like CAI or exhausts but after the modification to the ECU this would'nt happen. So who's going to be the guinea pig, cost $1295.00 14 day money back guarantee.

I would like to have the ECU remapped to sharpen performance. After reading this forum it appears
1. Nissan have the car detuned from optimum to handle different fuel qualities [read low octane].
2. If I add a CAI or exhaust the standard ECU will compensate for this in a way that would negate the CAI or exhaust ??? Can anyone verify this to be true or have I come to the wrong conclusion.
Do ECU's make adjustments to engine parameters when a CAI or exhaust are added or are the standard ECU's just set up for the worst case set of conditions.
Informed comment would be very much appreciated.
Best Regards
1/ if you get the ecu programmed for your car specificaly then you can get the A/F mix leaned out and use 98 oct only.
2/ Technosquare say that the sensors in the ECU check that the A/F mix doesn't deviate to far from a set parameter. This is done by retarding timing.
They have an ECU mod on sale now that partialy deals with the problem.
BTW the ECU never negated the gains, just reduced it a tad. So if you want the ecu to start learning from scratch just do an ecu reset.
hope this makes sense, it's 1 am...
... can't be bothered reading it myself.....

Well just to give people a headache....
I dyno'd my car after having an exhaust on there for quite a while, as in well over 1200kms and the power went up!
I have not seen anything detrimental to performance from the ECU "detuning".
The only issue I am having is the car is massively over fueling. I cant help but think that someone tuning this thing will provide a heap more performance with only an exhaust!
Anyway next is Nismo headers and R-tune CAI.

I very much doubt your car is massively overfueling.
Remember this car is rated as a ULEV vehicle in the US.
ULEV is a 90% reduction in emmissions over the already strict Californian Air Resourses Board emmission levels, It was also designed to pass the new Euro emmissions & the new Japan levels that killed off the S15 silvia.
The AF ratio on apsilons car at the dyno day at Croyden Auto was almost perfect.

nismor33 can you give us an idea of the a/f mix you had between 3000 -6000rpm?
Technosquare lean it out to 12.5 i believe but what is it standard up the curve? I know the rating advertised but is it pretty static through the rev range?
btw how much are you paying for the nismo headers? what gains do you expect?

Hey Zuffy,
Sorry mate overseas at the moment so I dont have the graph on me. back on the weekend so will grab it and tell you.
With regards to the Nismo headers trying to work out were to buy them. Might be in the US again in a month or so and I will carry them back to save shipping.
Also trying to get a trip to Japan!
