Servicing in Australia
Just curious if people are using dealers for their servicing?
Anyone using non-dealer service?
I don't want to take my car to a dealer unless it affects my warranty.
I was told if the mechanic is registered (??) and follows the handbook service manual then its fine. Anyone know more about this.
Thanks
Bev

Any MTA licensed workshop can carry out book servicing. I'm not sure about warranty work but will find out tomorrow if you like. I have a friend who owns a workshop and he's the only one that services my cars other than myself.
I suspect most places won't want to do warranty work even if they can as they need to pay for everything and then claim it back from Nissan which I imagine would take a while.

You cannot be forced to use Nissan servicing to adhere to the warranty. As long as the service guy is authorised and uses genuine Nissan fluids/parts the car will remain under warranty.
There was some whohar awhile ago with holden trying to force owners to use holden servicing and stating that if holden servicing was not used their cars would not be warrented.
Check with your dealer but I bet you this will be the case.
PS: Keep all receipts of purchases

There's no need to use Nissan branded fluids. I don't believe it's required that you use Nissan parts either however I do recommend using Nissan parts. It'd be much easier for them to blame a failure on a non genuine part.
As stated by others there is no compulsion to return the vehicle to a Nissan Dealer for routine maintanance.
The bigest problem anyone servicing & repairing the car will have including the Nissan Dealers is the multiplex wiring system or LAN system.
I have the Workshop Manual and engine control section of the manual runs for 639 pages alone & is very complicated reading.
This may sound like a plug for business but we probably know more about the Z car than anyone else in Oz. We have already rebuilt the gearbox. Removed the motor & completly stripped & rebuilt it, likewise the diff.
With the exception of the gearbox you have purchased a very well engineered & designed car, which I predicdt will give no major mechanical troubles.
One tip dont use synthetic oil in the Gearbox, stick with a GL4 mineral oil
