when shifting from 1st to 2nd, a lot of force needs to be applied.
doesn't feel right.
anyone else experience this??

Shifting from 1st to 2nd was a little "notchy" when my Z was new but it's buttery smooth now that I have almost 8k miles on it. But even when new I don't think it's ever required lots of force to make the shift.
I guess that's normal for all the new cars... well..... I notice that when the car isn't warmed up yet, shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are a bit notchy (but not a lot of force that you need to jam the stick in)... but as soon as the car is warmed up, it becomes better....
I got nearly 5K km on my car... and they are starting to get losen a bit now...
I notice that if I rev up to 6.6K rpm and trying to change gear from 1st to 2nd (dumping the clutch), it is quite notchy for the gear to get into 2nd..... 3rd is alright (at 6.6k rpm)... and yeah... I pushed the car already... several times...
cheers,
richie

Hi - I'm new here but I've had my Z since late March - 5,500km. The change into 2nd can be a ittle notchy but it has got easier as the ks have gone up. It is actually easier in my car if I change quite quickly - trying to be gentle seems to result in it kinda "catching"
Guys,
This is normal for Nissans and I should say for japanese gear boxes!
I have had 4 Nissans now and they all have a notchy 2nd when cold but you can change oil in the box to resolve most of it. Get the right one though!
My new STi had it and I drove an S2000 recently that had it.
