Default OMG!....Grey Import 350Z's

Guys, import used car dealers r already starting to stock gery import 350Z's from Japan. My dad's mate told me about this a few weeks ago, but i opened the latest Unique Cars and saw it for myself!!!!

This one place, faztoyz, has a black one advertised, but no price. Its a Jap spec track, identical to Aus Tracks, albeit with the Xenon lights and auto-dipping mirror.

I tried to call all day, but the phone gets redirected to his mobile and cbf leaving a msg for him to bug me all week. Im interested to know what its advertised at.

I cant believe the government is allowing them to import them, i thought they can only import cars from Japan that rnt sold here. This is going to kill the image of the car, and will suffer the same fate as the R32 GTR......now sold for an 1/8th what the Aus price was coz the imports came in undercutting the used prices, not to mention the flood of Z's on the road driven by cap wearing p-platers. I think thats been the final clincher in sticking to Euro cars.

Neways i'm off to BMW Doncaster's Z4 unvieling.

Ciao

AFAIK you thought correctly. You could import the vehicle for offroad use but it couldn't be registered.

Its f_ _ king ridiculous!!! I feel sorry for all u guys who've spent good money, up to 75k even, on ur cars, to have the government do a back flip and allow the grey importing of an identical spec car for around 20k less. I could only imagine the used car scene in 2 yrs time, with Z's being stocked in even the most dodgiest grey import lots. I'm interested to know Nissan Aus' view on this matter and will send them an email very shortly......what a f _ _ king joke!

On a lighter note, just got home from Doncaster BMW's unvieling of new Z4, geee what a horny looking thing, the 3.0L that is, with its Alfa style telephone dial alloys and gorgeous titanium and nappa leather clad interior. The roof is super quick and fully automatic, omg it even had a carver tech sound system....and for an audiophile like myself, thats veeeeeery impressive stuff. Im going back tomoz to drive a steptronic 3.0L....i cant wait.

I'd be very surprised if Z's were allowed into Australia in large numbers, except in private instances where someone has owned the car in Japan for a period of time (usually 12 months) and then brings it in.

The new law allows imports of cars not manufactured here or those that are sufficiently different from those imported into Australia by legitimate manufacturers.
