Hi Tech 350z system complete
Are those connectors in the last shot the sensors as it appears? If so is there normally a cover over them? That to me seems like a bad idea. It'd be easy to pick up some debris that would damage them.
Other than that looks good. I'd love to see inside that resonator and see what they did assuming it's not jsut a simple hollow.

Nah everything there is normal as it comes on the car. They should be fine.
Same thing that Ford wanted to know as to why Hi Tech got better results than they did on some of their systems for the XR series of Falcons!
Mate I was VERY impressed with the factory.

Forgot to ask nismor33. Was the 18kw attained with any other mods or just the exhaust.
Compared to most Japanese exhausts that are only getting 12ps (8.8kw) the result of the Hi T. is impressive if it is true.

Looks Sweet Mike!
Perhaps Ive missed it somewhere, but, what is the cost. I can recall Lambros said the muffler was about $1800??? Not sure if that was just the muffler I the system as you have it.
Whats the hold up posting the Dyno, jk!
H
PS in the rear shot what's the "smudge" in the middle of the muffler?

Hi Harry,
No problems to post the dyno. I never did it because it was only until last night I could attach pictures.
For sure, will do it today.
The "smudge" is a plate with the Hi Tech stamp.

The fitting of the new HiTech catback system took place last night, it took around 3 hours with standard tools a pair of car ramps, 2 car stands and a trolley jack, the only hard bit was fitting it by myself. I refitted the std muffler last week to allow the car to run in std mode for a while.
The dyno run was booked in for this morning, I was keen to see what improvement the new system had over the first attempt ( mark 1, muffler only) with a gain of only 5.5 rwkw, the previous dyno was not what we had hoped, anyway the last run was on a Wednesday also and in the morning so all was set.
Wow! what a difference, even my butt dyno on the drive over told me we had made some good gains. The dyno figures showed a total gain of 15 rwkw or approximately 20 kW at the flywheel. The graph shows the average or middle run we did, the last showed the highest gain but the curve was not as smooth plus we had reset the ECU which gave us the extra 1.5kW, its not quite as high as Mike's but it's pretty dam close, so take the average of 16-17 rwkW and that fokes is awesome in anyones language also the system saves 6kg in weight over the std one.
The sound is pretty awesome also, will make a sound file this weekend, anyone willing to host it.

The system is slung on rubber mounts from the Cats back to the rear of the car, it does not seem to present a problem in any increased vibration or droning.

Looks good. Nice torque increase throughout.
The flex joints I mentioned aren't there for vibration or sound. They prevent stress fractures from the potential twisting that can be induced from the movement of the engine. Guess time will tell if it's an issue on the Z.

Hi Dave,
Thats tops! Looks like its pretty much proven with ours pretty much the same and similar to what Nathan got.
Sound is awesome isnt it!!!!
Just a thought, when I did my final run it was using my custom made grounding kit......I wonder
Enjoy!!!

Hey guys,
I'm EXTREMELY interested in this product, particularly a titanium version. HiTech could make an absolute killing on a reasonably priced titanium system for the Z, since the Japanese products are prohibitively expensive for the average person.
I have a few questions on the dyno graphs though...
1. On the highest run, the max hp # was taken at 6700+rpms...fuel cut on the 350Z is at 6600... What gives?
Thanks for the clarification, and keep updating us with info!
ps...heard the soundclip on the other post...it does sound wicked.
I can't wait to hear more...inside the car accelerating with windows up, windows down...and of course, the mandatory driveaway and drive-by.
Thanks.
