I'm going.

I am willing to meet others at Campbeltown if you want to drive down together. I suggest that if you want to meet at Campbeltown, then take the first turnoff, then turn left at the first lights (Leumeah Rd) and then immediately left again at Hollylea Rd. This is a cul-de-sac and we can meet there and drive down together. Goulbourn would be about another 1 and 1/2 hours from Campbeltown, so I suggest that we meet by 8:30am at the latest at Campbeltown.
If you intend to meet me there, please respond before 7:00am Wed so I know to meet you there. If I get no responses, then I will drive straight to the track from home.
Either way, we should be at the track at about 10:00am.
Oh, I am not exactly sure where the track is so could someone please advise.

Zuffy, my engine is aslo giving a slight pinging noise near redline, so I am interested in hearing yours to compare.

See you tomorrow.

It's simple to get to. Have a look at their map.

Perhaps we should regroup at Goulburn Maccas?

I'll make a beeline for Goulburn so don't wait for me.

Thanks for the map link Apps.

I think that Goulburn Macas is at the second turnoff to goulburn (from Sydney), approximately 10km from the first turn-off - correct???
I am happy to meet you there.

Actually I think there's 2. One at the second turn off just near the roundabout but IIRC there's also one you pass if you take the first turn off.

Good stuff. I am happy to meet at Campbeltown at 8:30.

PM me and I will give you my mobile so we can hook up.

Aps, want to meet there also?

As for booster, go to Shell and get the booster in a black bottle, name has escaped me but its about $20 and has yellow writing. You will know the one. Its the best on the market, read many write ups and this had the best results.

I know the way to the track.....have not been for ages but should be fine.

I'm confused?

where are we meeting? lol

At a petrol station on the highway is best imho...at least we can't miss it .

hehehe.

I'll be a tad late though, gotta pick up octane booster otw so i'll be leaving Kensington at 8 to 8:30. KY350 do you want me to pick up a bottle of octane booster for you?

It would suck if you started pinging after a few laps!

Don't wait for me at Cambeltown, I've got to go to a clients early.

I'll be stopping at the BP just before Goulburn to fill up, check pressures etc. I'll then head straight to the track unless we decide to regroup at Maccas.

Apps

As there are 2 Macas, lets avoid confusion and meet at the track.

Zuffy

If you go past a Shell, please buy me an octane booster also and I will fix you up with the money tomorrow. I don't want to meet at a servo on the highway as there are at least 3 on the way to Goulburn an I think the fist one is a Mobil that you may have to take a little turnoff to get to. As I am unsure, my preference is to meet instead at Campbeltown at a defined street, so that we cannot screw up. If you can make it there by 8:30am, then we can travel down together, so you may need to leave a little earlier than 8:00am from Kensington. Even allowing for the M5 East, I reckon you would need at least 50min to get to Campbeltown.
Let me know if you can make it by 8:30 am at Campbeltown.

Nismor33

See you in Campbeltown at 8:30am. I will PM you with my mobile.

Well what can I say....AMAZING !

We had 4 350Zs and my bro had his WRX Sti, I also believe someone else brought along that red mx5 too.

Well all i can say it that the 350z has potential by the bucket load. I did a swap with the WRX Sti and they are very very similar apart from an amazing 2nd gear on the rex.

I got blown away by the cornering ability of the Z, it just wouldn't lose it's back end, even after we got used to the track and started to really plant it .... the car is all joy on the track.

A few minor spills i'm sure others may want to write up about....no! no damage! Just funny as hell....

That mx5 looked like a rally car with all that dirt...tehehehehe :P

BTW, this is a great track for noobs like me, not too many people...everyone is cool and nobody is pushy. Well maybe the V8s but that because they are so slow and we keep riding their asses :P.

It's definitly on my to do as often as possible list... now i gotta go buy a cranium protection device!

Fantastic day I don't know about the rest of you but I'm buggered.

It was my friend Christian that brought along the MX-5. He had a couple of offs and managed to find the only mud puddle at the track. I went along as a passenger with him and he was driving to the absolute limit, and obviously past it a couple of times.

I had an off with Christian as passenger. Did a bit of 4WDing I was talking to him as we went around about the line he takes and ran a bit wide, dropped a wheel onto the dirt and it flicked me around in the blink of eye. He had the video camera while riding with me so hopefully we'll have some footage to show shortly. I know my spin is on there.

I had a lot of understeer so something needs to be done there. I'll admit a lot of it was me carrying too much speed into some of the turns but generally I was carrying 10kph less than the MX-5 in the corners and it was still too much for the Z.

Brakes were pretty good but ABS kicked in too easily IMO. Bumped the redline a couple of times so another 500rpm would be nice.

Overall pretty happy with the car and had a lot of fun.

Sounds like you guys had a top day out. The weather was awesome.

I was driving into work (had two meetings 9:00am and 10:00am) and I thought if I turn left, that'll lead me to work, if I turn right, I'll be screaming around a track in my blue rocket.

Believe it or not, I turned left.

What's wrong with me???

I had a guy doing some work for me today. When I told him about the track session, he said that he was organising one too.

He has a BMW 320i (with some work apparently) and a WRX. Funny thing is that he said one of the other guys going on that day will be a guy I met with only 10 minutes earlier. He has a silver 350z touring.

I said maybe we can get a few more Zs out there. They are thinking Eastern Creek

I had a great time today.
A few scary moments when the car went into serious oversteer and then started fishtailing as I struggled with it. Kept it on the track the whole time and felt I was getting faster each session, learning when and where to break and just how hard to accelerate around a corner, so as to not understeer or oversteer too much.
But my biggest highlight was when I followed an SS ute into the last corner before the straight. Had it in second and gave it everything to mow down the V8 from behind by the time I got to the start finish line I own you!
The front left tyre is a little worse for wear, but its scars remain proof that I gave it everything.
It was a great day and I look forward to the next one.

BTW - how about we go to a left turn track so I can even up the tyre wear.
I am told that Eastern Creek has a lot of concrete walls, so I'll have to pay it a visit and descide if I want to risk my car around there!!!!
Although Wakefield is a long way away, it certainly is a safe track.

Tell him to let you know, I'd be interested if I can make it on the day.

Ky, don't worry about the concrete, just drive to your limits. You'd have to go a fair way off to hit anything.

Wakefield is a nice beginners track because it's not intimidating due to the huge runoffs and overall lower speed. I barely got over 170 on the straight with 160 being more typical.

Firstly, Im jealous as all (enter whatever profanity you want here).

The creek has concrete walls but really nowhere, unless your going like an absolute ********, are you anymore unsafe than any other racetrack.

Trust me, Ive riden around it many, many times at a lot faster pace than you'll ever get in a Z, as long as you keep a little in reserve you'll be sweet.

Trying to think where you could hit a wall...

I did once see a guy hit the wall at turn one on a ZXR750RR but he was an absolute nutter and couldnt ride. Picked up the bike the day before and was off the track more than he was on it!

Turns two and three the wall is on the outside of the corner and you'd have to turn 90 degrees right (in a left hand corner) to hit.

Turn five, if you went straight on you'd eventually hit the wall.

Turn eight, you'd have to go about 50m wide to get near the wall and there is kitty litter in front of it anyway.

Turn ten, if you didint take it, you'd hit a wall, but it's a "nothing" corner, more like a kink.

Turns eleven and twelve, same thing, youd have to be way off track to hit anything.

I have been to the creek a lot of times over the years and I can say the only times people of crashes is when they have gone above their (and not their bikes/cars) ability.

I am keen as mustard to have a blast around the creek in the Z, WP is just too far away for me.

Hope all you guys had a ball, certainly sounds like it.

Sorry to prattle on.

As always
