Headlights
Since we only got the el-cheapo halogen lights and then only 55w both for high and low, I thought I might upgrade to a higher wattage - I reckon that 55w is pretty pizz poor in this day and age - but how do you get into the fuggen things?
My manual clearly says that the bulbs are accessible from the engine compartment (7-19) - but someone tell me how and where please. No further instructions that I can find.
Has anyone else put better bulbs in?

Frosty....
I have changed the bulbs myself... and it took me 2 hours just to change those bulbs at the first time... because you will need to jack the car up and pull the inner guards open (don't need to take the wheels off, but it will DEFINITELY save you quite a lot of time if you them them off, depending on the thickness of your arms) to change the light bulbs instead of accessing those bulbs from the engine bay... it is IMPOSSIBLE since you cannot even see those headlight wiring from the engine bay!
I think it will be better for us to stay at 55W though due to the stupid warranty problem... well... my dealer is a VERY genereous dealer that I have never seen so far... they allow me to have the cat-back exhaust/nismo filter and telling me that they will not void the warranty... but when I mentioned about the higher wattage bulbs, they told me that if there is any electronic damage to the car, they will possibly not cover those.... and it would be hard to tell if it is really caused by the higher wattage light bulbs... As I know (from my previous cars), higher wattage light bulbs tend to burn the wire housing, so they always don't look good when they need to be replaced (always look so burnt)... that's why I only changed my light bulbs to 55w philips diamond vision (a bit whiter than usual with 4000K as they claim)... that's all...
I had pretty bad experiences with HID lights as well on my m3, due to the higher voltage, I still have the original centre dash board with me although I had already sold the car...
On the cars that have too much electronic things, I don't dare to try those things out anymore... expensive experiences told me so! It is up to you as it is your car.. just want to share my thoughts!
cheers,
richie

Thanks Richie - I wish Nisshit were as forthright and diligent in HONOURING their warranty LIABILITIES as they are in DODGING possible claims - I'm so stupid that I took an extra 2 years factory warranty (about $1000) when I bought the car! FUGG'EM!!!!!!
What sort of car is it that cant take a globe upgrade? - pity those that are contemplating FI - what a risk that would be!

My dealer is Garry Rogers... yeah.... they have that Holden racing them just won the Bathurst 2003 with 2 7.0L Monaros... so they have knowledges on this kinda of modification things!
Frosty: Just change the same wattage light bulbs, but with higher light colour, those bulbs will definitely lighten your night up! I am using Philips Diamond Vision (4000K), not a bad choice! THere is another one out there with 5000K light colour by Philips as well, suppose to be a lot brighter than what I have got now!
