Default Just did my basline dyno

went to croydon this morning and did my baseline dyno

result: 181.3kw

nice and cool this morning at ~21c on the temp readout in the car
and my z only had 1300km on the clock

now that its done, I may now go and fit the hitech exhaust this afternoon....... if I can sneak out for a few hrs from work

Sh#t that's a bloody good base line it's 20kw more than the average what gives.

Oh the images must not exceed 640 x 480.

Fark otto, they (Nissan) must have changed something as, from memory, everyone else has been a LOT lower.

Perhaps it was done in the "wrong" gear?

I know mine, after Hi tech, was mid 170's.

As far as attaching a file, it sounds like the file is too big. I think it can only be about 600x400 to be able to attach. I would suggest making the file smaller and you then shouldnt have any probs.

As always

yeah i was surprised when I first saw the result
I made sure it was done in 5th and all 5 runs did ~180kw
I ask Jim at Croydon they said they just update their dyno program so it would give a diff reading to previous dyno runs

Im working on the image now to the already small image (~87k)
and post it asap

Let me guess, they ran the car in 4th gear?

It's a tad high even for the hi-tech but it is spot on as far as gain is concerned. I got 21rwkw from my Hi-tech.

I don't think that you can conclude that as you cannot compare a run on one dyno with a run a a different dyno. The scaling (ie. the max value) is always unique to that particualar dyno calibration.

Just to illustrate there were some S2000's dynoed at one place at around 120kW and then on a different dyno at around 170kW. Was there a 50kW difference betqween the two cars - absolutelly not ... car's were rtunning more or less the same and had the (roughly) same power despite the two different dynos listingb the 50kW difference.

ps. I'm interested to see the post-hitech run on the same dyno.

pps. It's interesting to see that this stock 350Z dyno looks like it has a peak all the way to around 210kph (ie. around 6000rpm) while some of the other dynos see it flatline at around 5000 rpm (ie. ~175kph). I wonder why the different shape for the curves?

pps. why is this dyno plot dated 31/12/2003 ... that is not today?

exactly what im trying to say... but in much better english... Im hopeless in writing...
yes as DavidM said you dont compare dyno result done on diff dyno, its basically pointless, even if the dyno said I've got 180rwkw i wouldNT (edit) trust that its accurate, I only did it to show me at a later date how much gain I get after I mod my car.
I always come across these mag showing these cars saying they make such and such rwkw... they always make me laugh

The gains are immediate. As soon as I got the exhaust I did my 'compariosions' (which are documented on this board) and the gains are obvious. Heck, I noticed the gains as soon as I drove my car after the hi-tech fitting.

I'd say there's no reason why not do the dyno ASAP.

Keep it. Just in case a speed hump claims your Hitech or your car gets stolen, at least you can look at the exhaust in the garage.

By the way my opinion on dyno results are as follows :

Each dyno is different and the gain should only be looked at as a PERCENTAGE % gain for each mod.
That is if base is 180kw and hitech fitted is 198kw then 10% increase of power is measured .

so lets hope to see 200kw

LOL..Croydon changes the software and we see mega KW!

I'm starting to believe Nathan's dad about that place. I can say there is no way a std 350z is going to pull 180rwkw standard.

The test 0-100 and 1/4 mile is easy proof of that.

Well at least the % gain will be of some value.

HT finally installed!!!!!!!!!!!
all i hv to say is WOW!!!
it frees up the engine so much, it revs alot easier now, cant imagine what it'll be like when i install the light flywheel
not sure if it makes any more rwkw, but it certainly feels nicer to drive!!
the sound is not intruding at all, cant even hear it when idle.
this is my 4th car with HT exhaust and i think this is the best one ever, no annoying resonate when crusing.... great exhaust

hopefully get it dyno in the next day or two, see if I get 200rwkw.... hehehe

when i install the light flywheel

I want to do that one day as well as (for me) the flywheel/gearbox are totally missmatched. I am having a hard time up-shifting slow enough to keep the gear-changes smooth. So, what flywheel are you getting (and how much lighter is it), how much is it and how much to install it?

not sure if it makes any more rwkw, but it certainly feels nicer to drive!!

On my car I can't say for sure about the rwkw gained, but I can say that I am good 2 car-lengths quicker from 40 - 100kph and another 2 car-lengths from 100 - 150kph. My estimate is 0.5sec gain in a 400m run.

hopefully get it dyno in the next day or two, see if I get 200rwkw.... hehehe

I'm looking forward to your results as well as your milage is about the same as when I put the hi-tech exhaust on.

It sucks that Croydon have altered something with the dyno. Now Apps, Zuffy et al have a baseline reading of about 150rwkW from several months ago. If they modify further and re dyno at Croydon, they will probably have a masive increase in rkW reading which will be totally inaccurate. I guess you guys that originally dynoed at Croydon, will have to go back there and get another dyno done with your current mods to establish a baseline for any further mods. There goes $50 into Croydons coffers essentially for nothing.
BTW Zuffy, I'd be interested to know what Nathan's dads opinion is of that group. If you cannot publish, pm me instead.
