DECA 'event' on 21st Feb....
The MX-5 club is having a DECA day (at Shepartton) on the 21st of Feb. They are going to have some 'motorkahama' as well as driver-training on the the day so all levels of drivers should be catered for. From the e-mail I got from them it seem that they will be not only using the skid-pan area, but also other areas of the complex (ie. the track/handling-loop at the back).
My plan is to go to this event, and as soon as the entry forms become available, I'm sending my in. Anyone else interested in coming? If so, I'll post the link to the entry-form here as it'll be booked on the 1st-in-best-dressed principle.

David count me in, what do I need to do in order to comply ie cams licence, helmet etc.
You don't need anything like that for the DECA event. I'll post the details once they are listed, but I have not been to a DECA event where either CAMS licence, extiguisher or helmet was a requirement.
Though, you'll need all 3 (ie. extiunguisher, helmet and CAMS L2S licence) if you want to go to any oif the actual track events with any of the car clubs.
1) I'm getting an extinguisher bracket made next week. It will go under the front of the passanger seat and shout 'hang' under the seat. Should fit well, but it will not be cheap (ie. $200 - $250)... if anyone else is interested the I'll ask them how much for couple of them (if that makes any difference to the cost). Is anyone interested? If not, then I'll just let you guys know where I had it made up and you can follow it up if/when you want to.
2) Helmet you can buy from any motorbike shop. I bought mine from one of the shops in Dandenong and you can pay as little as $150, or as much as $800 for a helmet. Though, I'd recommend the cheaper ones as you want it for the car and not a bike so the cost is not really justified. I'd say $200 - $300 is more than enough to get you a good helmet to wear in the car.
3) CAMS L2S licence needs to be purchased from CAMS. All it takes is $95 and a filled in form sent to CAMS. No tests or anything like that. It will get you the licence for a full year and then you just need to renew it (which is just another $95). You can get the form (and read more about it) here: http://www.cams.com.au/content.asp?P...ors&ObjectID=2

The entry form is now available:

The day will cost $60 for the non-members (ie. anyone not a member of the MX5-club). I'll be sending my entry form in before the end of the day.
