OTT:

So we should really just get a light weight "duel mess" flywheel?

My clucth actually got some noises as well when I don't depress my clutch down when idle.. the chattering noise is quite loud and I heard that the nismo one isn't loud at all though...

cheers,

richie

I mentioned the need for a lightweight dual mass flywheel on the last page, but there arent any that im aware of on the market.

About your clutch noise, thats a different noise, thats the clutch plates floating around when they arent engage, thats a normal noise that all manual 350z should have. I believe that was covered in another post a little while back.

I thought the Nismo was also a dual mass and that's why it's not that much lighter than stock unlike other brands.

ottonove, I thought you were going to C&V?

I was, but this morning I thought why not go to croydon, as I know roughly I pull 180rwkw with HT, so if I go back to them I would hopefully know how much the flywheel, popcharger and pulley give me....
but obviously that was a wrong decision....

That was the right decision, so you can compare to your baseline. Just so happens that today wasnt the best day for it though

first gear finish alot faster now, and the engine rev faster/smoother in every gear.
5k to cutout still very tight, but thats prolly due to the engine only hv 2500kms on the clock.
My original aim modding the car was to make it more free reving like my previous car, a BMW E46 325ci. that car, that cars engine is so free reving, and comparing to the zed, the zed takes forever.

OTT:

You are obsolutely correct.... but wait until you try out m3's engine... that's really a free revving engine and you will know how much I missed that engine...

cheers,

richie

I thought about it, but its still early days, and I dont like the idea of opening the engine up, also the cost/power gain is too $$$ if you factor in installation with the cams

I've driven both E36 M3s and E46 M3
I liked the E46 the most, but if you going to mod the car E36 3.0L is the car to go.
