I'd love to come down for moral support but I'm not game to attempt the peak hour madness.

BTW how much do they charge?

cheers and thanks!

Richie,
no big expectation after my stuffed up attemp on my base dyno, so I dont even know what my base is... but from the info I gather from this forum, I should have at least 20rwkw over stock.

heres my current mod:
popcharger, pulley, flywheel, HT exhaust, and others which will not be contributing to any increase in power

Steve

$100 is steep for a power run! Just FYI!

Make him work for it then.

Con at C&V quoted me $80 last week on the phone.. I think, I wrote it down at work. I'll check in the morning.

Croydon does 50 bucks for group dynoes and 70 bucks for power runs... Probably priced it up to 80 now since they are so busy it doesn't pay to do individual power runs.

OTT:

It will be great to see how much the pulley set will improve the HP at the wheels!!! That might be my next mod...

BTW, what flywheel are you using now and how do you find it? Does the rev go up A LOT faster now?

cheers,

richie

richie,
I've got the JWT flywheel, it makes the car rev faster, but also it makes a noise under 3000rpm.
To be honest, I dont mind the noise the first day I picked up the car, coz it'll just go away as soon as you press the clutch, but after a few days and I find it a little annoying, coz it sound like something in loose under the car while accelerating in low revs. I hope I'll get use to the sound coz its so much fun driving it now when you push it, and heel-toe needs to be done carefully coz I over rev it most of the time when down shifting

About flywheel, I was lucky to find a paragraph on this noise before I was about to buy one. I had read the reviews on nissanperformancemag and another mag with a 350z project car etc and all you hear is good things about them... Then I found this para by chace on how nissan uses heavy dual mass flywheels to slience the low rpm vibrational noises caused by big strong gearboxes, and I remembered the brochure said the 350z had a dual mass flywheel.

I would love to get this mod but i've got a real thing against noises like rattles etc

machpman... probably you would like to look into the nismo one as it is not as light as JWT and still gives you faster rev too (than standard)...

cheers,

richie

All of the really light flywheels make some noise. I had a light alu one in my last car and while I didn't particularly like the noise I didn't notice it after a few weeks.

The Nismo one is probably a good choice if you want something a bit lighter and will likely not have much noise if any at all.

But its more the dual mass which suppresses the noise. There are two discs seperated by spring like bit which compress to suppress/absorb the vibrations. So what we need is a lighter dual mass flywheel.

I have heard rumors that a chromoly flywheel which is much stronger than Alu has less vibration, though I doubt even that would totally supress the noises.

went to Croydon this morning (dont ask me why, coz I dont either), caught in peak hour traffic, arrived there at ~9am, a WRX was on the dyno but engine off, 15mins later they said something wrong with the dyno and needs to be fix, ask me to come back another time/day, me drove off and head back home without dynoing my car......
me=not happy=no luck with croydon

I doubt the NISMO or any other one piece flywheel will be any different, the noise is not caused by the lightness of the flywheel, but the absence of any damping material (rubber/springs).
