Great driving DavidM - looked like loads of fun.
Thanks, and yes, it was great fun ... I enjoyed myself very much.
...but it sounds like you did it all in 1st gear and possibly clutched in on a few sections before rev matching again. Is this correct or did the revs drop so much on the slow parts, that it sounds like you were depressing the clutch?
I can't remember if this 'excercise' was done all in 1st gear. Often you need 2nd, but I have a feeling that this particluar one may have needed 2nd gear only on the run off the line. I'm not even sure about that, but if that were the case, I would be in 2nd around the 1st cone and change down to 1st around the 2nd cone. Though, it is possible that I did not need the 2nd gear here at all.
As far as pressing the clutch goes, I never did so unless I was changing gears. I would feather the throttle around the cones to keep the front on the limit of it's grip and also to power steer the rear (when conventient and appripriate). That is maybe why you think that I'm rev-matching ... though, it's just me feathering the throttle around the cones.
...especially liked the purposeful oversteer slide around the last cone, very well controlled with little loss of momentum.
Thanks, but I'd say my arc there was a bit too big (ie. I should have kept it tighter to the cone). On a later run of the same exercise I managed to do a better job all the way around and shaved about 0.5sec of the time.

I noticed the revs dropped off after the first cone, but there was no chirp of the tyres as you flicked into second - so I wasn't sure if there was a gear change then. Good run anyhow and thanks for the feedback.
Hey guys, I have some more footage from the day. I have about 20 new clips, out of which only 2 are of my 350Z there, but the ones of interrest are:
- One 350Z clip from early in morning where you get to hear the Hi-tech exhaust at full throttle.
- Nice clip of the RX8 (pictured above) doing the same exercise.
- Couple S2000 doing the same exercise.
- A few 'wild' (ie. fast and sideways) MX5 clips.
Let me know if anyone is interest in seeing any of those (or hosting them) and I'll forward them onto you.

Hey David, I see you have removed that ugly number plate holder. Would you mind explaining how you personally went about it?
Yeah, I did so about 1 week after picking up the car. Though, I did not exactly 'remove' it ... I just trimmed it so that it would no longer protrude from behind the number plate.
First I marked the extremities of the number-plate on it with pencil. Then I took it off (ie. it just unscrews), and then cut it with a saw (ie. electric fine wood saw). I had to cut the sides as well as top and bottom. Then I just filed the edges so that it would loose the sharp edges and rougness. Then I screwed it back in with the number plate so it works as a separator between the body and the plate.
Took less than an hour to do without rushing it.

Yeah I have been wanting to rid myself of it since the day I saw it on the car. I mean, this isnt Europe, our number plates arent that large. And come on its a nice looking sports car why would put that there like that.
Thanks for your info.
I think mine might be a bit more tricky to get it nice. My number plate is so narrow that I can see the two screws which hold it in place, so after i cut it that area will still be visable. I think I will have to cut and paint it, so it is less visable and paint the actual screw area etc.

From DavidM,
My 1st run of the day, and it is the exercise #1. Exhaust sounds good here.

From DavidM,
One of the S2000's doing the same exercise #1 early in the morning.

Note: Others will be up in a while, I ran out of space on this site and another server keeps reseting the connection, so am trying a third one.

From DavidM,

From DavidM,

From DavidM,
A track spec MX5 in the later in the day running the best time of the day for exercise #1. This is how it should be done. This one one of the quickest cars/drivers there. This was (I think) the quickst run of the day around exercise #1.

From DavidM,
Same MX5 trying to set a good time at exercise #2 ... though, this time it did not work out as well.
