Default INSURANCE for Z

Just spent a bit of time with Shannons arranging ins. for the Z.
Very helpful and very Z savvy (Ben or Chook).

Got $66,000 for my '03 coverage $1200. That's less than 1/2 what it was for the STI.

$450 excess. Undeclared under 25 $900. Inexperienced u/25 $600.

How's that compare?

ps Almost identical to Allianz.

I've been wondering about insurance as mine's coming up in about 6 weeks. Have you guys found the premium has generally dropped from last year?

Just quit Allianz...

Can you believe this, they didn't believe, or were incorrectly advised that the stock touring (And maybe track?) has 7.5" wheels all round.

Would not insure me with stock wheels!!.

The only reason I mentioned the wheels to them was because I was upgrading by their 'allowable' X 1 inch per rim (However They refused 9" width anyway!)

They wanted a formal letter, via me, from Nissan Australia stating the stock wheel sizes. Copies of catologue or Handbook no good.

I felt it was their job to be right , so I quit.

Now with AAMI, $1600.00 inc sat nav, wheels, DVD. $450.00 excess. 3 performance mods allowed.$60000 agreed value, touring (01/03)

Anyway YES good value at $1200.00.

If you are with Allianz...CHECK THEIR WHEEL INFORMATION

I am paying around 1600 for rating 1, no claim bonus protection, insured with Market Value + modifications (body kits, wheels) and the excess of $450 under RACV for my '03. So 1200 is pretty good already frosty!

cheers,

richie

you being under 25 is a big no no from most (if not all) insurance companies, and I think $4500 is pretty good seeing that youre still on P's. (no offence meant, just that powerful cars and P platers is not a good combination IMHO )

I'm over 30 with 60% NCB and it was ~$2500 last year. Could've had ~$1800 with AAMI bit I'd rather pay a bit extra and get some extra benefits and peace of mind.

I'm hoping it'll drop a bit this year now there's some history on the car here.

Im 22 and had to put the car in my fathers name with me as a listed dirver to get the insurance down, I pay $3500 a year with NRMA. Which is a great deal (Not being sarcastic).

I dont deal with AAMI anymore as they are extremly dodgey and will do anything (mostly illegal) to get out of paying a claim, if you listened to them and believed anything they have to say you'd be left to fork the bill yourself. You need to stick to your guns and know you policy and your rights, because they will outright lie to you.

FYI I got a quote from JustCar insurance for a 200sx for $14,000 per year. Justcar deal with AAMI.

I think insuring for market value can lead to a bad situation.

My mate had his car insured for market value, and it got stolen. But the market value had dropped below the amount that he was still paying off. So he had no car, still had some of the loan to pay off, and had lost alot of money because he had mods on the car which went with the car.

I get it insured for agreed value.

I thought through this situation before I bought the car.
I had it put in my dads name. It was the only way I could get the car I love.

Well worth it.

I feel really strongly about this insurance subject. I work hard so why should I be allowed to buy the car I want. Why should the decision basically fall into the hands of the insurance companies as to what I can drive. When an insurance company says it will cost $14,000 a year to insure you they're actually saying that they wont insure you, and you cant have that car.

As i know, AAMI and Just car are the same... just car is just a division under AAMI. The only difference is that AAMI will not offer insurance to people under 30 with greater power car, but Just car will and with higher price.

THey all suck because you cannot be able to choose the repairer you want if something goes wrong.

cheers,

richie

Don't forget Sydney insurance is higher than anywhere else in the country as well. At least monthly payments makes it a bit easier to swallow.

Geez some of you guys are younger than I thought. I'm starting to feel old now

I'm with Murray on AAMI, they have some rather shonky practices which is why their rates are much lower than others.

So how old are you Matt?

Older than 30, that's a large bracket.
