I usually need to press that button twice for the hatch to release fully. The first press lifts the hatch slightly, but does not undo the latch. So I need to press the button again to release the latch and be able to lift the hatch up.
This is probably my most frustrating experience with the Z. I can live with the seat squeak and audio pilot. In fact, I might book the vehicle in for a fix of these issues and give Nissan an opportunity to fix them before signing petitions etc.
If no response from Nissan, then I'm happy to join in the Nissan bashing.
Occasional..as you suggest re lid, but I think its a 1/2 press on my account it really needs a firm push.

Drivers seat L/H side squeak very aggravating, also dash noise front of driver, reduces with heat!!!

Slipping number plate surround an issue too...

One press for the hatch here.

Who was it that had their seat squeak fixed by the dealer. I thought there was a TSB for it but can't find it. I have a squeak developing from where the back joins the base. I can reproduce it by pushing myself back onto the seat but it also happens over some bumps. I know it's going to get annoying soon.

About the boot, you need to push the middle firmly, if you only do a half push it only opens a bit.

Matt, I got my seat fixed some months ago. They told me there was a TSB for it.

As always

Well I'm still waiting for Nissan to fix despite their phone calls - Toyota would never do this to a client!

Seems to depend on how long I push the release button for, if I am too quick then another puch is sometimes required - the rest of the time OK ( perhaps I am just lucky ).

And just as a follow on, my rear number plate surround seems to have worked its way loose - has anyone else seen this ? Its beginning to cause damage to the surrounding paint.

Well Nissan finally fixed my window grease marks....They also attempted to fix the hatch lid but it has reverted back to form....That is one thing that really annoys me - you have your hands full and it won't pop up. GRRRR. We need it to work properly AND we should have it on remote. If my 30k Camry can do it why can't my 68k Z do it?.

Radio is still ratsh@t and the gearbox is OK. So fix the radio and hatch and I sing your praises Nissan.

BTW they did supply a free car (after a little whinge). Pulsar - bit of a come down - you put your foot down and all that happens is the noise level goes up.

Could be worse tho - we could be driving a Bitsaremissing (Mitsubushi) - what will happen to them if the factory closes?

CAR2

I fixed the rear hatch problem myself, all you need is two self-adhesive rubber round stops ie 12/15mm diameter and around 5mm in height stick them were the oem rubber covered springs make connact with the body, will take a photo if that makes it easier. The prob is the spring that pop the hatch are not strong effort.

Default Rear hatch release

I only need 1 push to release the rear hatch (2004 model). But its a heavy hatch - almost needs hydraulic assistance to raise it !

Just thought I would let you all know that I too had the tyre noise (feathering) issue, which I only discovered the name for thanks to this forum. I recently purchased my Z and am the second owner, I noticed the noise when I purchased the car however NRMA advise it was only tyre noise, which to a point is correct.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I dropped the car into the Nissan service centre in Artarmon (registered as crows nest) and whilst the service i received lacked a little lustre they did, after a little persuation from me, rotate the front tyres and re-allign the fronts as they were 5mm off, he informed this would be covered under warranty, inferring that this was a factory issue. Not sure if this helps, but if you have the issue, whilst they did not replace my tyres, Nissan at artarmon seem to cover the allignment under warranty

The main US forum has massive amounts of data. Use the search function and also check TSB section.

https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance-and-repair-53/

The main points are tyre feathering (makes a loud roaring sound). Window grease streak, rear latch and wheel alignment are the other bugbears.
