GTP @ Oran Park 17 & 18 Apr
Just a reminder to any Sydney siders that are intersted that the next race meet is on next weekend, the 17th and 18th of April.
That's the good news.
The bad news is Procar and/or Oran Park management have decided to not offer one day only tickets this year. That means you have to buy a weekend pass even if you're only going on one day. $45 for a pit pass for one day. It was $25 last year.
The second lot of bad news is that after one round Procar have decided to start handing out parity adjustments in Nations Cup. The fastest car at Adelaide (the Diablo) remains unchanged. The second fastest (the 550 Ferarri) has to run smaller restrictors and the Mongral gets larger restrictors and less weight despite the fact they weren't far off the pace despite running on 7 cylinders. That has seen the 360 and 550 Ferarris withdraw for the Oran Park round so Nations Cup will again be small, incomplete field.
Given these changes and the fact I can only attend Sunday anyway I'm not sure I'll bother going. If anyone is going to go post here. If a few people decide to go I might just come out anyway to say G"Day.
Bad form Procar and it's only the second round of the year.

I have no idea what they are doing ... it's not like they have enough entrants to make it a 'spectacle'. They seem to b doing their best to stop cars from turning up. Why don't they just let them race for at least 3 rounds before even mentioning 'parity'. Heck, I'd be happy if 'parity' can only be applied between seasons and the cars are left to run as they are for the whole eay.
As it is, it seems totally pointless and counter-productive. The car that has done one race (altoghether) is being nobled, while the cars that won Bathurst by 20laps are getting a 'speed boost'.
ps. IMHO, GT-P is the 'star' in Procar's stable ... Nations Cup may have been so 2 years ago when a lot of the greats were racing there (ie. Richards, Fitzy, Bowe etc), now it is a mere shadow of what it used to be. Procar doen't seem to be making it any better by hobbling the only new entrant this year.

Unfortunately Nations Cup is simply a PR exercise for Holden and Procar seem to be happy to allow and even support that (probably has somthing to do with a certain Procar official having a financial interest in one of the mongrals).
I agree that GTP is the star unfortunately they're not treated that way by Procar nor do they receive the coverage they should.

Well, I'm going to vote with my feet and not go to Oran Park. Making us buy a weekend pass is a money grab by Procar / Oran Rark Raceway (not sure which party is responsible).
Its such a shame because I really wanted to go as this racing is a lot more enjoyable than watching the dinosaurs rumble around the track.
Hobling the Lambo and derestricting the Munro is a joke!

I think they realise most people only go on the one day and just want the extra money. You don't exactly get a lot of your cash either, just entrance to the field where you can stand around all day. If there were proper sheltered seating and other decent ammenenties it might be worth it.
