Further to the point, the roar is from the front so what the TC has to do with anything who knows.

He takes it in on Wednesday....I will let you know.

They also said they are going to put in a decent amount of neg cmaberon the front.

I'd like to know how they're going to do that. Sounds as if they don't know it has no real adjustment in it.

Just to let you all know that I had my differential replaced on Fri last. The noise is now gone and I'm running in the new diff, keeping speeds under 80 and revs below 2.5k.

Now all I can hear is the tyre noise (which I hope will be resolved with a new set of tyres) and a few odd squeaks and rattles.

There is a TSB for the diff problem which is common in the US. I wonder if one was released in Australia?

Not as far as I or my dealer was aware of. The dealer had to get authority from Nissan to replace the diff.

Nismo R33 - you had better get your mate to get Nissan to check out his diff if he has the same problem I had, as the noise is now cured.

Hi there.

Sorry for not posting an update...been flat out!

Well after getting stuffed around by the dealer, my friend with the Z cracked it and rang Nissan and went nuts. To his suprise they were MOST interested in what was going on as it seems as though Nissan was not kept in the loop by the dealer.

Immediately Nissan arranged for him to have front tyres replaced and used the EXACT alignment info as per the US TSB.

All the mucking around with tyre swapping (twice cos the dealer forgot they already did it) and the excuse it was the traction control was a waste of time by the dealer.

Car is great now.

Cool.

Mike can you get the alignment specs (US TSB) from your mate and post them here.

I'll be getting new tyres soon and want to ensure the alignment is exactly what Nissan specify, so that Nissan cannot claim bad aligmnet from the tyre shop in the future.

Also, I'm sure Frosty would be interested in giving a copy of the TSB and alignment specs to his friendly dealer to sort out his feathering issues.

Don't mean to butt in but here are the relevant US TSBs for the new toe in specs. Make sure any alignment specs fit within the guidlines to reduce the chance of feathering. I've seen a few spec sheet that are wrong floating around.

Thanks for the links Zuffy.
Even after reading those documents, I am still confused as to what specs to align to.
How did you guys get your alignment done previously. Did you just take the car to Nissan and get them to align? What about those that had aligments performed outside of Nissan. How did those peolple know how to align the Z properly within spec?
Or should I not have my wheels aligned at the tyre dealer and take the car to Nissan for alignment on the day my tyres are swapped over? Need your help.

Jelly, I don't even think Nissan do alignments. I had mine done at the local shop (who I have used for years) and the bloke asked what sort of driving I was going to do and we worked it out together.

As always

According to the specs the front needs to have 0-1mm of toe in, I'm not sure about the rest.

yeah, that's what I'm after - degree of toe in / out, camber and castor (not sure if castor is adjustable on the Z though).

Thanks nuff.

I can smell a rematch in the air now that Frosty has a lightweight fire breathing Amuse exhaust.
