Yeah, gianniz. He lives at Blacktown IIRC which is not far from Quaker Hills. Was it a Daytona Blue? Hope it's not him. Tragic either way.

That's just tragic news.
I believe that all young drivers buying a high performance car should undergo a mandatory advanced driver training course. That way they can do their crap in a controlled environment and at the same time learn how a car reacts when out of control and what you can do to correct it.
Just yesterday, I send the Z into a left hand corner way too fast (on purpose to get it sideways). Went into the corner faster than I really wanted to and had the car at 45 degrees across the road in oversteer. Applied opposite lock and got a tank slapper, now facing 45 degrees the other way. Then got it straight and no damage done to anyone/thing. But it goes to show that the Z is not progressive when oversteering and would be very easy for an inexperienced driver to totally lose control.

It is very tragic.

How about we classify them as inexperienced drivers... as age isnt always the determining factor in experience.

And 20-odd could be anything up to 29 for all we know.

True - someone getting their licence at 40yo is just as inexperienced as a 19yo. So I should have said new drivers, not young drivers.

I think you shouldn't borrow your Zed to anyone else to drive. It just like you borrow your girls, wife to other dude for a nite. Who knows what will happen!!!

May not be a nice thing to say and do wish they survived but looks like our insurance will go up.

Why? Who said he was insured? Or do they judge based on deaths?

As soon as cars are in the media ie: wrx, 200sx etc and you have a police authority spokeson say "Performance cars like the Z are like a ticking time bomb in the hand of inexperienced drivers and .. blah blah"

You watch. If the Z is in the news often the insurance companies will use this as an excuse.

It is all perception. Not many WRX STi's get stolen now a days but still costs you $2500 /pa and $7000 excess with Just Cars.

KY350 - did you have the dynamic thingi turned off?

I'm going to get bigger tyres on the front to induce more oversteer.
You must have had a bootfull of throttle on!

Shizzle, make sure you let me know what you do with the tyres as I am starting to look at some new ones.

As always

I've found it depends a lot on the road camber. eg I took off from a T instersection not long ago on a road with off camber and the tail swung well out and it didn't require much throttle at all. VDC/TC turned off of course. Speaking of which I find VDC a tad dangerous. On several occasions where I've hung the tail out and countered at the same time VDC came in which causes an over correction. Twice that's almost seen me mount the gutter. It works rather well if you don't try and correct the slide yourself but for anyone who does it becomes a hinderance.

OK Harry. See other threads to date.

Apsilon - your comment explains a similar incident I had on an on-ramp in the wet - gave it heaps in a straight line and nearly got the concrete.

The VDC is for *******.

Love the feel of a nice drift on the big roundabouts (on the distributor for tiler) - in the wet I often do a 360 for the feel with the VDC off.
