Default Rattles & Warranty

I couldnt find a thread where we last mentioned the rattles.

A heat shield under my car was rattling/vibrating between 2200-3300rpm and the dash was making noises as well. So I rang Nissan and they told me that rattles arent usually covered by warranty, so I asked how much they charge per hour and booked it in. When I dropped it off I asked them not to touch the dash because I didnt want them to scratch the interior but wanted them to fix the heat shield rattle. I picked it up that afternoon and they said the dash mounts were loose and so was a heat shield so they've tightened everything. I drove off and all the noises were gone. The next day the rattles returned so I booked it in again and this time they changed the bolts and bent the heat shield so it wont happen again. All the noises are gone now and they didnt charge me a cent.

I did spend about $80 on cabs, but Im happy they fixed the noises free of charge. I didnt buy the car from them, and I dont get it serviced with them either.

Amazing...you got service from a Nissan service centre!

I'm yet to have any major problems but I dread the day something comes up.

Im sure the noises were directly related to my aftermarket suspension, so the fact that I wasnt charged anything for this is very good.

Rattles not covered under warranty?

My car's had a dash rattle since day one (it vibrates really badly when I rev the engine out), and recently I've gotten another rattle that sounds like its coming from the passenger side boot area.

If they try to charge me for fixing it this early, there will be hell to pay.

Nuff, Ryde Nissan.

Scathing, They said rattles are normally only covered in the first 3000 or so kilometers. But they fixed them all the same. I have 12,000km.

I complained about it at my 10,000km service. The head mechanic rode with me, heard the noise, and said they'd look into it. They didn't do anything about it.

I mentioned it at my 20,000km service. They didn't do anything about it since they didn't know what noise I was talking about.

I mentioned it again today, and had the guy ride with me again. If its not getting fixed this time (and under warranty because of the amount of dicking around I got at my 20,000km service with my brake pads), I won't be going back to that dealer.

I didn't go to Nissan Ryde because the access ramp looks like it will bottom out my car!

Is the service center below or behind the dealer there? I might try them next time I have an issue.
