Not keen on imported cars. Having to worry about getting compliance and then more importantly insurance. Anyway I think they're too new to be imported yet. The only way you could do it would be to buy one in Japan then wait for a year so you could bring it in as a private vehicle import.

New Exige is a better 'buy' that the previous generation one. You get the 140kW Toyota engine, 6 speed gear-box, air-con, power windows etc, and all for $105k brand new. Well worth the extra $20k over an older, 2nd-hand, previous gen Exige.
Though, if you're happy about 'this' car being just a weekend/track car then you should look into these babies:

What about a motorbike, I saw a review in this months SPEED magazine. Its the Y2K Jet Powered Bike, its got nearly twice the torque of our Zeds and it will melt your shoe off if it goes in front of the exhaust. Visually I think it goes with my car pretty well

Yeah I've seen that. It was also featured in the movie Torque. Can't see myself spending US$150k on it though.
Re the RX-7 which site had the import info on them? They clearly don't fall under the 15 year rule so I'd be interested to see how they're doing it.

Its true that a bike will give you more thrills than a car will. If you're going that way, most of my bike friends seem to have this obsession with the Yamaha YZF-R1.
While the Hayabusa is a much faster bike in a straight line (I've got a friend who owns one, and says he can sit the bike at 180km/hr down the highway and it'll still pull to 270km/hr+ easily) it is a big sports bike, and not the handler of the Yamahas.
I'm not sure about turbine bikes. It doesn't handle that well either (because of its size), and because it is a turbine engine you can't engine brake with it. Rolling off the throttle doesn't make any appreciable difference to your speed, from what I've read. Can be a bit of a hair-raiser the first few times, when you're trying to slow down and the bike still accelerates after you come off the throttle but only lightly brake, expecting the engine to help you slow down...

Neither would a 2002 R34 GTR but they import those, I got a quote recently. I think the 15yr rule is just one of many rules that apply. With the 15yr rule there is no restrictions on make or model as long as the car is at least 15 years old. But newer cars would have to be cars not sold domestically and adhire to other guidelines.

I'll look into the imports more but I doubt I'll go that way.
Don't think I'll go for a bike either but maybe. I've wanted to get back onto a bike for a while but it's hard for me to ride any distance on a bike as my ankle, and legs in general, plays up and makes things difficult. Bikes, telegraph poles, legs and 60kph don't mix.

Im pretty sure this is the only turbine bike? Yes SPEED magazine did mention the lack of engine braking. I think this bike would take the cake for one of the most crazy machines on the road.

Congratulations on the sale Apps. I hope you got the sort of money you were after for it.
With the Charade to get you around, I guess you can now afford to take your time picking your authentic sports car.
Good luck with the search but don't leave us too soon.
I'd also love a bike, but I reckon I'd be dead within 5 years - and not necesarily from my own high speed antics.
Seen too many riders get T-boned by grandpa in the 30yo "solid as a rock" Falcon because he failed to give way to the rider.

At the moment no.
I really cant justify the $$. The R1 was 3 years old and had less than 4k k's on it and most of that was from the track.
When my son gets a bit older I will get another and 1 for him as well.
