Question Clear Bra

I've seen quite a bit about the Clear-Bras in the US and wasthinking of getting one myself. Have any of you guys looked into this at all?

I've got a lead and hope to hear something soon but really have little or no idea how much it will cost nor how good it looks. Obviously the pictures look fantastic but...

Let me know if you've either got one, looked into it, know how much they are or are simply interested as I'll let you know how I end up.

I did check out a normal car bra, two piece, but it was $499 which seemed a bit rich to me. Particularly as I saw the same thing in the US for $99!

Well, if you want to do it the cheap way, import the $99 one from US. If you get it shipped with USPS, you shouldn't pay any taxes or duty on it.

At last count there is only 1 place in the whole of Oz who installs the clear bra and they are in Melbourne. IIRC they charge about $800?

If you do a search of "clear bra" on this forum you will find all the info you need.

As Nuffster said though the cheapest way would be to import one yourself. Apparently it is quite hard to install and looks shitty if it is not done properly.

Aus, If you search the Oz forum you will find a lot of the questions you come up with have already been discussed in detail.

Hope this helps.

As always

Default Sydney installers

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I've been told there are two places in Sydney and that the cost should be under $700. (I thought the other one was expensive! )

I was wondering about the "poosible" outcomes as well as the longer term look of it. I'm kinda thinking that I really only want it for long trips, like to QLD as I'm doing this week, and would take it off the rest of the time so might go the import.

I'm sure it looks great if installed properly, but...

Pretty sure it'll be a trip to QLD tomorrow night without it either way.

I'll search for other posts as well.

Ciao

Auz, clear bras are on and they stay there. They are not the ones you take off and put on as you please. They are a fairly thick 3m film that actually sticks to the car.

I thought so as well Nuff, but the thread is entitled "clear bra" and Aus talks about a clear bra as well?

"Cross your heart" or "Lift and separate"?

Seriously, they can do as much damage as they supposedly save by marking/chaffing the paint.

Had one on the M5 for country trips. Bit useless 'round town - specially with maintenance (washing), etc.

You can repaint the front for about the cost of a decent brassiere.

I know they can be damaging but that's typically because pedople think they can leave them on when they clearly state they are not meant to be on for long terms. I only want one for when I do interstate trips and would other leave my baby looking good in the nude!

I think the clear bra is just not worth it so will give it a miss. Looks like the cheap and nasty US nose cover for those long trips for me.

Hahaha, I prefer nude, chick without bra

maybe the money you buy the bra you can repsay 2 times the front bar, unless you need to drive long trips a lot!!

I have a Colgan Bra but never fitted it because i got the Veilside Lips on the way.

Also respray our car is not easy. Because our Colour is very hard to match, especially the Blue and Sunset. They have to blend the colour with the hood and front Fenders. So it would certainly cost more.

Btw Gary you got my Private message?

Cheers

I can confirm that the colour is hard to match. But rather than blend you can pay the repairer a bit more to properly match the colour (I'm having the front bar done next week). Also, you will notice on all Zeds that the front bar is a slightly different colour anyway as a result of different primers used on plastics compared to metal.

What did you end up doing with the Colgan then? Would you be interested in selling it and, if so, PM me with how much.

Cheers

well i was t hinking of selling it, But i have a feeling that i want to use it if i have a long drive to Wagga Wagga. Yet i can't be bother to take off the Veilside lips because take it off is easy, putting it back on is a pain in the a**

So i'm still unsure if i want to use it or not.

Cheers
