Looks nice and I presume you'll put the Sat Nav as well?

So is it a DVD, Stereo and Monitor all in one unit? Or do you need to buy the DVD and Amp seperate as well? And Price?

No, leaving the Sat Nav out (for now). It's an all in one unit with touchscreen. Here's some infor on the unit http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/pr...productId=2557

It's the USA model so some of the (known and presumed) cons are: -
Only plays Zone 1 DVD's (no prob as about half my DVD's aree zone 1)
Not sure if I'll get am reception (USA is in lot's of 10 whereas Oz is in lots of 9)

To buy the Australian model (DDX7045) You're looking at about $3,500 so buying one from the States at a total cost of $1,600 (including Duties) was well worth the effort I think

And one without/very low duties, double bargain!

Good buy either way!

The duty was about $260 from memory. The think that narked me the most was that you pay duty on the postage as well!!!!

yeh customs rock !! almost as much as the tax man hehe..
looks nice mate, make sure you post pics when its installed cause i got a Pioneer dvd/LCD touchscreen waiting to be installed but im putting it off because i dont want anyone hacking up my car mwahahaha

i wouldn't worry about the R1 DVD issue either... im sure there are ways around that *cough* dvd-r burnt with region coding removed *cough* but like you said most of yours are R1 anyway...

I used to just download video clips off the net, then burn them as either VCDs' or DVD's and play them in my car... as long as the mpg quality is good it sounds as good as a CD.. but with pictures hehe

I think FM should be okay but not AM. Also you may be lucky as with my old Pioneer HU you could change the stepping via the HU setup.

Unfortunatly when I bought my eclipse HU I had to by it from here

I guess I could read the instructions.... nope, no fun in that LOL.

I'm not fussed if I don't get AM - never listen to it except for ABC 720 (which I should still get) for the footy ocassionally

there r some good bargains to b had from buying from the states, good buy dude. I bought my headrest Clarion monitors for around aus $350 each when rrp here is over 1k. Also bought my Clarion Dolby Digital 5.1/DTS processor from US too for aus $280, theyre worth about $1999 here

But the Clarion 935 DVD deck and tv tuner i bought here tho. I looked into a US version, but there is no warranty, no compatibility with the tv tuner or fm stations, and it couldnt play nething other than DVDs bought in the states. Cost me $4400 but what can ya do Nang3 is on a good thing, its awesome dl music videos off the net and playing them in the car, just make sure u get ur installer to hook the power up to the ignition to bypass the handbrake lock so u can have the screen going all the time.....a bit distracting for other motorists but who cares, they can watch ur ripped free **** too

btw was at my installer today to sign up my nav and saw a very minor sound upgrade on a track Z. He fitted a single din deck, and when asked how he got around the double din space, my installer said "i just went across the road and bought one from the nissan dealer." So u guys dont have to put up with the metra kit nemore, the OEM finisher is so much more neater

OK, all finished. About 4 -5 hours work all told. The longest task was the wiring of the speakers to bypass the bose amp (which is located in the rear hatch) The following pics show the location and the dplicing of the amp inputs to the amp outputs. Real pain in the A$$ doing this.

I'm very happy with the unit - I do get FM - only get AM in multiples of 10, oh well. I also wired an earth swith for the display so that the handbrake dosen't need to be on.

Only thing I need now is a better fitment plate to suit the Z - I've got the part number lying around somewhere, just need to order it.

OK, so here are some pics.

as for the surround, ne installer can make up a perfect fitting piece, u could even have it cut out of aluminium to match the dial and aircon surrounds
