Default Best Brake Pads

What are the best brake pads to use with the track model Brembo brakes. I have the Nismo pads for every day use, but since the pads are so easy to change on the Brembos I want to get a set for track/autocross only. I want the best pads that wont completely eat my rotors. Any suggestions?

I'd use carbotech bobcats for auto-x and the carbotech panthers for the track. The bobcats would also be decent at the track but I don't think you could put enought heat into the panthers to make them good auto-x pads.

Call me crazy, but I cannot find any for the 350Z on the Carbotech website. Do you have a link?

I dont know their website. Here is there phone number.
I think the part # for brembos is CT1001 for the front and CT961 for the back but im really not positive so you should ask them. I have the regular brakes so don't listen to me.
I've use the carbotech pads on all my cars and imo they are the best preformance/track pads I have ever used.

Mike,
If you want a great autocross/track pad get the Cobalt GT-Sports. I know they planned to bring them out for the 350z with Brembos this yr. I'll find out from JP tonight since he sells them. They do make noise and they do dust quite a bit. I only run mine for track days (unless their is an autocross between 2 really close track days) Spencer has also ran them on his car and though they worked well.

They also a pure track pad for the Z called the Spec VR's that are awesome and last forever. Probably not a great idea for autocrosses though.

You can find specs on both of them here, just pick your car out of the drop down bars on the left. http://www.cobaltfriction.com/products/index.asp

Also don't forget good fluid. Good pads are useless without good fluid

Let me know if you need anymore info or help

I will check those out as well. I already have Wilwood 570 DOT 3 fluid, and it worked very well at Buttonwillow.

They do have them for the Brembos. I think I will try the GT-Sports. Also that way, since you live here I can punch you if I don't like them. Thanks Karim!

Awesome. I'm sure you'll like them. Make sure you write up a review after your run with them. I'm sure Cobalts will eventually work their way into the Z/G crowd as they have with the Hondas and Spec Miatas.

Do they have them in stock? I was told that the new run of pads (350z, evo, etc) weren't going to be out till March (they were supposed to be out in Jan) but they might be out a little early.

I really need to pull mine out and check how much pad I have left on them and see if I should restock since JP has a sale on them for the s2ks. I have mine in right now since I just did Laguna at the end of last month and I'm doing the infield of cal speedway at the begining of March. I often find people giving me funny looks when I come to a stock and my pads begin to sing, not to mention my wheels now have that cool gunmetal look but they sure as hell stop hard

They didn't say anything about them bieng on backorder, and I got an e-mail saying that my order was processed. The only reason I got track/autox pads is because it literally takes 15 minutes to change all of my pads on the Brembos. You don't even need to take the caliper off. And since I have to take the wheels off to switch to my Hoosiers, it is no big deal. Oh, by the way, I don't know if I told you, but I sold my supercharger and got JIC coilovers and some adjustable sways, and I will be running with you in BSP now instead of SM2. Who else runs in BSP?

You'll enjoy the Cobalts. I've run them in my RSX for a little over 2 years now and really enjoy them. Plus the guys at Cobalt are awesome with product support and help when ever it is needed. Be careful with those JIC's also.

What problems have you had with the JICs? I bought them used, but so far they are awesome.

I found that there was really no difference in settings at full stiff to full soft. Someone on Honda-tech put them on a shock dyno and found this to be true. The settings were really only incremental difference in measure. Also after about 2 years of use the ***** started to get stuck and then finally stopped moving. Other people have had far worse problems than me with these. A few people have had them just completely fall apart. Just maintain them and I think you should be fine theoretically. JIC also offers little to very poor customer service with these. This is coming from my experience with the shocks and others that I have talked to. IMO they are not worth the money at full retail. These complaints have also come from droves of users not just a select few people. I would just like to give you a heads up thats all.

That sucks. Do you know which model they are talking about. I have the FLTA-2 model. I did not pay full retail though. I got them used.

I agree the Jic's are not that great. I have seen them critically fail on course and rip the entire axle and control arms out of a car along with the wheel. Not something I'd imagine is cheap to fix.

Sorry for the bad news but its better now then later when something catastrophic happens. There is still a market for used JIC's for some reason so you could sell them and get something else in any event.
