245/40 and 255/40/18 on stock track wheels
thinking of S03's 245/40/18(f) and 255/40/18(r) on the stock track wheels, questions:
Is anybody running this?
any problems? rubbing suspension or fenders( nismo or stock suspension)
did improve handling? track use?
does interfere with VCD or TPMS?

A/X: 275/35-18 A3S04 Hoosiers... tires fit on my 18 X 8s just fine... I needed a 5mm spacer up front... due to my nonstock wheel's 35mm offset... no rub, VDC, ABS, "Ice Mode" problems... unless you are a huge left foot braker, you shouldn't have any problems.
Performance increase is an understatement... sore neck tells it all. Staggering the tire sizes isn't the way to go... too bad the Track model's wheels won't allow for rotations between events F to R (short of a costly remount). The ability to rotate competition tires is a big plus.

So do you guys who are running the 275's have any other mods(suspension etc) that may account for you tires not rubbing in the front?
I was actually looking at 245's in the front and 275's in the rear. Does the wider tire in the front reduce pushing in the corners?
BA - how long are your Hoosiers lasting... have you tried the road race compound? Thoughts?

I would have to think that running that large an offset in tire size would cause some big push issues. I'm running Koni SA's but don't think that would make any difference for the rubbing or not rubbing as they are basically the stock shocks in layout.

I run 5mm spacers to compensate for my non-stock wheel's 35mm offset. If I ran the stock wheel (18 X 8, 30mm offset), I wouldn't need the spacers to prevent the minor rub on the front uprights. But then the stock wheels are very heavy.
I have Konis and a 350EVO sway bar, neither contribute to ~or~ reduce clearance problems.
The 275/35-18s fit fine if you use your stock wheels ~or~ if you use nonstock wheels... compensate for the deviation using spacers. Finding 30mm offset 18 X 8 light weight wheels is difficult. Light weight 35mm offset are a dime a dozen.
I think running 275/35-18s balances out most of the push Nissan dialed into the Z.
I also think most folks who have had problems with Hoosiers, have not run proper tire pressures. I used a pyrometer to dial in the correct pressures according to what the tool told me to do. I'm about ready to have the tires flipped on the wheels to put the outside shoulders on the inside. I think the compound of the tires have gone away quite a bit, but there's still a couple of mm's of tread left. I participated in 10 events last season and 3 or 4 practice days... logging 6-10 runs per.
Don't stagger your tire sizes, it's a styling ploy... not a performance enhancer.
I understand Hoosier is coming out with a new tire for this coming season and will address their competitiveness against the Kumho 710. If Kumho made a size that would fit my 18 X 8 wheels, right now, today... I'd buy a set of 710s once my old Hoosiers run out of tread.
I have not tried the road race compound. I think they would be a nice compromise tire. I also like the idea of having competition tires versus my expensive street tires for HPDE days. But I buy A/X compound tires because I mostly compete in A/X... and I want to be competitive.

I'm following the same route as BA Cutler. I've seen his setup, tried his car and came the conclusion that he has the best avalible setup (within the financial reach of an autoX-er) for a B-stock 350Z. I did go for the R3S04's instead of the A3S04's cuz I spend a lot of my seat time during the year at practice days, so I need tires that will last me a little longer than the A04's although they won't be as ideal for autoX.
