SA = Special Application

SA helmets have fire retardant linings, M helmets don't.

Of course, you can always go to the Snell Memorial Foundation web site, and read all about the specifications.

The other major difference is that SA are built to withstand multiple impacts during the same incident (as in a rollover.)

If you don't mind buying one online, as opposed to a store in NJ, check out www.soloperformance.com

IMO I would suggest you try one on before buying. All helmets fit a little different. Some styles are better for different head shapes. Nothing like spending a few hundred bucks on a helmet that hurts your head.

I agree. In addition, it's important to make sure that it will fit in your car. I tried several helmets that fit on my head in the store, but only one that didn't press up on the headliner in the car. Fortunately, it's also the one that fit me the best
