I drive a base model 2003 Silver Z, the car is bone stock except Nismo LSD(only good for drifting!haha) My best lap at thunderhill April 2, 2006 was 2:11 in semi wet condition with HAnkook RS2 street tires. Btw, it was a tight battle jason! We should do that more often!

I was at the NCRC yesterday and luckily the sun was out for 70% of the day. Portions of the track were still a little damp (edges of the track) but the racing line was dry...during the time trail I clocked a 2:14s (running with the cyclone). The RA-1's hold so much more than the OE tires! I carried enough speed through turns that I was hitting 105MPH before turn 9 & 10, and 120 before turn 1...I still have so much room to improve on turn 1 - it's just so scary going into that turn [usually by the apex, I wish I had been going faster]
Dave, good call on the raybesto pads - my biggest problem was that I would tend to use the same braking points from last time, so I would finish breaking well before my turn in points...hopefully I can pick up a few seconds just in better breaking. (I also realized why I melted my brakes so badly last time; when I would start breaking before a turn, I would be near 100%, but as my speed dropped and I realized that I still had some extra breaking zone, I would drop by breaking to 50% [or around there] until my turn in point...this time I was trying to go 100% until my speed was correct for the turn, then hold my speed until with the throttle until the turn-in point)
I'm thinking of going back to T-hill Friday, March 5th w/ NCRC...speed is adicting

Peter,
Great driving out there! A few months ago, you and I were clocking about the same lap times. This time, I couldn't even come close to keeping up! The weather did turn out WAY NICER than I expected, and I was very happy with the day.
In the end, I still ended up with 2:19 on the same street tires. I've hit a "wall" on my lap times, and will seek more instruction on where I can improve my driving. I did notice my ABS would trigger more than usual and had to brake sooner. My increased camber (-2.75 degrees) up front effected my braking a bit more than I expected, but I had much better grip and balance in turns.
I think where I can make up the most time now is T9 as I'm not slipping and sliding there yet. I feel like I really pushed T1 and T8 enough where gaining more time there wouldn't be worth it. The car just bounces around on T1 & T8 with a short screach and rotation every time the suspension unloaded.
Did you check out the lap times on the stock C6 Z06? I timed one of his laps at 2:07. Holy cripes!

was that the yellow C6? During the time trials, my last lap I was going into turn 10 with no one in my mirrors, between 13 &14 (back straight) I saw him gaining very quickly - it was scary how much quicker he was!

Did you see the Silver Porsche GT2? That car was shod with 285/315 MPSC tires on Fikse wheels, Moton Clubsports, and ceramic-composite rotor/brake package. Talk about throwing money at a car! I think his tires still looked brand new by the end of the day though

Well, I just returned from a thunderhill track day with the Shelby Club. I decided to scrap my hot lap timer, and do the timing myself with the in-dash stopwatch. And, you wouldn't believe it....but I did 2:04 on street tires and stock suspension!!!
I'm never going to use that hot lap timer again since it's inaccurate as hell. All that time, I was breaking records, and I didn't even know it...

Bringing this thread back from the dead...
I just did thunderhill on Friday the 20th and was able to hit 2:12's on the stock bridgestones RE040's. One of the rears chunked a bit but besides that they held fine.
I can't wait to throw on some sticky tires and good brake pads. I would say low 11's or high 10's are doable with these tires but good brakes.

I was there Monday
I ran 2:12 over the top at T5 but I have V710's. I am just starting to push the car. I am the limiting factor right now. This was during a race with Checkered Flag Racing Association. It was a beautiful day in the mid 80's and only 20 cars per run group. The fast gus were running 2:06's in a s2000 with a wing and no engine mods. This guy is an experienced racer.

Here are the official track records at thunderhill. They look to be a little outdated though. I know the T2 record has been recently broken.
I find it hard to believe a stock engine s2k will break the 2 min mark, even with slicks regardless of the driver.
