Default Traction Compound

Has anyone tried Traction Compound?

I have some Falken RT-615's and wondered if I could get them as sticky as a R Compond tire w/ Traction Compound?

Traction compond is a chemical you apply to your tires and some drag strips put it on the asphalt. This is very common practice for NHRA and NASCAR rasers. I have seen a couple of AutoX use them at the SEDIV, yet forgot to ask how well it works, and if it will work on normal rubber (not R compond rubber).

I can't imagine it would have any practical application with autocross or road racing as it would wear off by the first turn. Perhaps it's used at autocrosses to better a standing start...

It's an alternative to tire warmers as it allows you to go flat out on your out lap with better grip. By the time you scrub it off, your tires should be warm enough to get normal traction.

I can't find it in SCCA rule book either. And like I said - I saw some SEDIV AutoX use it this last weekend and they didn't get kick off the coarse.

Now another quesiton - I can't find any rule in SCCA about dry cell batteries. Anyone know? That way I could shead 24 lbs for under $100!!

this is how i interpret the rule book - if it doesn't say you CAN do it.. then it's illegal.

Here is what VHT says:
VHT TRACKBITE COMPOUND is a custom formulated resin that provides controlled traction for competition racing. VHT TRACKBITE is a liquid track and tire treatment, which improves traction on asphalt and concrete surfaces. It achieves added traction by means of adhesion and does not soften tires. It will not harm asphalt and concrete and is biodegradable when dry. VHT TRACKBITE can be applied with a roller, brush or can be sprayed directly on the tire or track. The chemical compounds used provide maximum adhesion in all types of weather, it is water-resistant and is not washed away by rain. VHT TRACKBITE was applied to the track during every race when world drag strip records were set over the past decade. NHRA & IHRA approved, sold worldwide to record setting drag strip tracks.
IDEAL FOR USE IN ALL TYPES OF RACING ON HARD SURFACES, INCREASES TRACTION REGARDLESS OF WEATHER CONDITIONS, WEIGHT OF VEHICLE OR HORSEPOWER.

I tried VHT for A/X in the early '90s on Yoko A00... whatever they were. It didn't work after the initial launch... the launch might've been marginally improved, but it didn't help beyond that point. And it made a big mess in the garage, on the trailer and on the car.
