Default Evolution Autocross School

Anybody been? I've never really done any high performance driving, and thought this sounded fun. Is it worth it ($210)?

I've actually won a trip to the Audi Driving Experience one day class, but am thinking about doing the Evolution school anyway. The biggest pro to the Evolution school is that it lets me drive my car instead of an Audi.

If I go to the Evolution class, I assume I need a helmet. How much do those cost, and where is a good place to buy?

EDIT: Nice spelling in the title. Oops.

I was going to attend the one in Ft Myers week before last but work interupted. From everything I've heard they are well worth the money. Jean & Marc, who started the schools (rather I believe they took over the McKamey Autox school), are really good people. You can email Jean at: jkinser77@earthlink.net to find out about helmet loaners. If you are looking to buy a helmet then I would try Racer Wholesale:

They have a Mag4 SA2000 helmet on closeout for $157:

I don't know about 200 bucks for an autox school I think that for a little more you can learn more about driving your car from a school on a racetrack, some of us are going to Sebring and for 2 days it costs 415.00.

Thanks, I've actually been swapping a couple of emails with Jean. I think he is in charge of the one here.

The Audi school I've got a free trip to might give me an option to do Sebring. I think Atlanta is the primary option, but I might be able to get Sebring , Mosport in Canada, or Texas.

I'm just wondering if this is worth the added expense to do the Evolution school.

Well a free school with their cars I'd take it anywhere so enjoy it.

I would still look into schools to run the Z and learn more from it. I just think that you would learn more from a course on a track rather than an autox course. I think you learn about the car on the track and learn technique on the autox which you can pick up pointers from other guys and some will even ride along to help you.

I have done an autox and for the first time with stock car the three of us with 350Z's on a 55 second course were 3-4 seconds behind the S2000 guys that came with slicks and obviuosly had done this before, I don't think 200 bucks in autox school will gain me the time I can by adding slicks and practice but I definely learn more fromthe track. my 2 cents.
