Set the tire pressure when they are cold. Best time is first thing in the morning, but absolutely before you drive it. Then check them again after your first run. If they get above 40psi when you check them in the pit area after that first run, bleed them down to about 38psi. They will all continue to drop a bit as they cool off. As you are about ready to head to the starting grid, check at least one of them again...if it is 35 or so (street tire) then you are good shape. If you are running DOT-R tire, the base cold psi should be more like 31 or 32 for the tire (Nitto/Toyo for example).

Have fun and be sure to give us a nice write up about your adventure and experience when you get back. We will all be looking forward to reading about your impressions.

Excellent. Are you going to be going with anyone else that you know? IF not, try to pit next to or near somebody driving the same type car and just watch and listen and soak up everything you can from them if they are more experienced. It will be a total blast. Have fun!

That is perfect. Lots of good advice sources and lots of other newbies to share experience with and feel part of.

Periodically check your oil and brake fluid levels througout the day. More than likely they will remain good, but if there is a lot of pad wear, your brake fluid could be a little low. Also remember one BIG rule...NEVER apply your e-brake after a session on the track. Your brakes are going to be very hot and it could literally weld the e-brake to the rotor, which is a very bad thing. When you get off the track, park your car, pop the hood, turn the car off, and leave it in gear without the e-brake applied. Or if you bring a 2x4 or some wheel chocks thats even better. Its also a good idea to leave your car running for a bit to get everything back to normal operating temps before you shut the car off.

i forgot to mention power steering fluid. mine has not yet boiled but 3 of my friend's cars did last time. bring a bottle of ps fluid and put a wrist band over the cap. ps fluid can degrade rubber in your engine bay.

Just remember this event is not a race. Go out there and have a blast! You'll love it. There's no prize for first place, if the car behind you is faster let them by. I think it's more fun chasing the faster car anyways.. Be sure to post pics and your experiences when you get back!

i wish i could be out there with you cause theres no place i'd rather be than on an open track with my car. i was chasing a miata on my very last run session who was in the advanced group. i had enough power to pass him on the straights but i would hold off cause he was faster in the corners. it was the best run session i had that day. get a ride with an instructor, funner than any rollercoaster out there.

^^^Better yet, let an instructor drive your car. It will scare the crap out of you and I can guarantee he will only be going at 75%. Its amazing what these, and a lot of other cars, are capable of on the track.
