Default tires and spacers

I'm thinking about getting some Azenis on my stock rims this year for autocross, I can't afford new rims or R comps. So I was wondering if I should just get the stock size tires, or go bigger, and what would be the best size? Also I was wondering if spacers would help or if it is just for looks? Thanks for any help. oh yeah, my car is daily driven.

most ppl will say for AutoX to get the widest tires (275 or 285) on all 4 corners and to push out the wheels...but it's going to also depend on what class you want to run in. (B Stock only allows a small deviation from OE in wheel offset)

You never stated if you were experienced or just starting out. I know that it's very smart to run the 1st season in street tires (and cheaper). You learn car control much better than establishing bad habits when the R-Compounds can cover up mistakes.

Wider is better but if these tires are also for daily driving, I would stay with stock sizes. I use sets of 275 (Hoosier) or 285 (Kumho) on all corners but that's just to run the events. I put the stock tires back on to go home.

Spacers are limited to within 1/4" with stock offset in SCCA Stock Class rules. I don't see the reason to use them if you don't have to with street tires. If you feel you have to get them then make sure there is enough thread sticking out of the lug nut. It's not pretty when a wheel comes off.

By all means have fun. Look up others with a 350Z at events and ride with them, talk setup and beat beat the RX-8's.

for reference, I fit a 275 RA-1 on a 17X8.5 +22 rim up front....a 285 should fit w/out any problems.

I have 18 x 8 OZ Superleggeras with 35 offset on all 4 corners. Barely touchs the control arm under load on turns. There is a clean spot but no mark on the tires. Pure B**ch to get tires on the wheels. However a friend has the secret and can mount them in 5 to 10 minutes a piece.

Thanks for the replys, I have the touring 18"s and I am running in BSP. This will be my second year autocrossing, I think I have gotten pretty used to autox. I just want to try to get a better advantage than using the stock tires, and like I said I'm too broke to buy rims and R comps so Azenis are the next best thing.

does anyone run spacers with slicks like hoosiers or kumho V710's and FI?

seems like having a lot of power and a sticky tire that the wheel bolts will take on a bit more stress than they would with normal street tires
