Rain setups
Looks like the sunshine is coming to an end in Northern California just in time for the season opener at Infineon.
What changes do you guys make to your cars for rain? I'm thinking in terms of alignment, shock settings, sways, tire pressure, etc.
discuss..

Depending on the temp, I still try to adjust my cold tire temps (RA1s) so that they'll get to the 39-41psi hot... so if it's 50 degrees and drizzling, then I'd start off around 32psi to start. I keep the shock dampening at full soft, and if I have a dry place and lots of time, I'll put the sway bars at one setting softer for front and rear.
Since I already run my rear sway on full soft, I may try disconnecting it.
One advantage of my narrower width RA-1's is that they are better in the rain than the 275s were. I drove them to the coast and back a few weekends ago in a downpoor and they worked great!

Was an interesting day with many 'NASA Crashes'. I have to admit I like driving in the rain, but this day had some of the the wettest, slipperiest conditions I’ve ever seen on a track. Notice the river that runs through T1 and how the car is jolted over a few inches. My line through T9 was to aim for the center of the track and have the river carry me to the exit. NASA really should have closed the track..
I managed the win that day by 4 seconds thanks to my full tread toyos and soft adjustable suspension. Wish I could say the same the next day when things dried out.
Here's a quick glimpse of my last lap of the day before I decided that it was just getting to dangerous to continue.

Streams across the track and shutting down the event? Haha - you all out in California treat rain like us east coasters do snow. Unless there's snow/ice or lightning to threaten the corner workers, why close the track? Slick surfaces are great to run in...

Actually darwinism took over that day and all the, umm,, weaker rain drivers, eliminated themselves early in the day.

Like daveh said....darwinism...natural selection, whatever you want to call it. Drivers should never push themselves beyond their limit of comfortability and if they do, these tracks are designed to have cars run off course and into walls
