Default tire wear on a stock car

Has anyone been able to get good outer corner tire wear on a bone stock car? I just picked up a set of shaved tires with 1/32nd on them. . 15 autox runs later, the outer blocks are virtually gone again. I know part of my wear contributes to the low tire pressure I run, but is anyone else having the same issue on their setup? I am sick of paying for tires

It's probably not the pressures tmak... its because you're running r-comps without enough negative camber.

or

If you've somehow got plenty of neg camber, then its probably a driving style thing, i.e. constantly 'pushing'

or

Only other thing it could be is that you have too much toe-IN

oh yes. i know the lack of camber. still it seems like my tires are wearing quicker each set. it,s getting to a point where i should jusy buy a faster car and not have to deal with this. my car,s alignment is stock, too bad i cant change much to it.

I think you'll find that getting a faster car will produce exactly the same results (if not worse) without a way of adjusting for the tires that you run. So why not just invest in some adjustable camber plates on the car you have?

Most tires are shaved to 4/32. New Kumho tires are 4/32 tread depth and I get 100+ runs. Kumhos are much better on the outside edge than Hoosiers which are 50-55 runs before both edges after flipping are corded.

You didn't say what kind of tires they were but 15 runs on 25% of the original shaved tread depth seems reasonable to me.

i have to keep the car stock to sta stock. no camber plates.

i run 235 toyo. i thinl that is another problem. my tires are just too small. with the 245 v710 i was doing a lot better. times are still very good and car handles great. i just cant get good tire wear.

with a faster car. at least i can drive slower to keep up. i have to drive my car at 100% to keep up with the gt3 running 80%

are you talking about track only? Or Track + street driving? (I'm lowered and have about 2.5 degrees of camber, and I still wear out my outside portion of the tires first doing autoX...I swap the tires on the rims for my R-comps, but for my street tires that I use for practice, it's perfect b/c street driving wears down the inside first - so it evens out nicely)

Dude, I'm impress. I will say check tire presures. I have 2.5 degrees also, and 2 at the back. I have 275/40/17 all around. I'm currently running SM2, but I have been using 275s since I was running BS, back then I manage to install them on the stock wheels, and they last the entire year! since I understand you have 1 set on slicks, I will recomend to soack them in water at the end of each race.

On track day, again check pressure after each pass(I have expirience up to 3 psi between laps, this weather is just hot as hell) and also check temperature, you can feel with your hand when a tire is HOT, spray some water to cool off.

If this doesn't work, check all your bushings-suspension parts, something is wrong!

The pressure are lower than what they should be, but I run the fastest with the lower setup. I will have to stick with that unfortnately. I really think wider tires are going to help, maybe I should move back to 245s again.

I got the car aligned again. I was hoping for a more aggressive alignment for the next track day, but the guy screwed up and put in the stock setup. Let's see how I do this weekend. If the car doesn't drive good, it's time to pay another $50 to get it redo again.
