I'm sure the day will come when Mazda will be faced with the same choice that Nissan has recently made, but until then, I'll continue to look at Mazda in a different light than their competitors as a direct result of their support for motorsports.
Mazda was very close to bailing on SCCA this year after the CRB approved and then rejected the Miata MSR package for SSB. As of a couple weeks ago, Davis pulled his RX8s and Spec Miatas from SCCA competition and was going to NASA. That might have changed after a high level meeting between SCCA and Mazda.

Default SCCA and Mazda

Mazda and SCCA seemed to have kissed and made up at the PRI show. The rumor is that Mazda will keep their present levels of help in SCCA and will expand some help to NASA. Thank God cooler heads prevailed.

Very true, but that would have only pulled support from their SCCA program, not ALL of their racing. And as Bob pointed out, they've since worked over through their differences with SCCA (or so it would seem).

I was impressed with the survey and letter they sent to their racers in order to gain insight into their customer base's attitudes, priorities, and preferences while trying to determine how best to respond to this situation...it was clear that Mazda was willing to do whatever it took to support their racers, even if it would (potentially) mean backing activities within an organization that they had recently had problems with.

I received a letter from Nissan Motorsports last week with a sign up for competition and parts discounts this year. The form looked like last years but there are some newer stickers ( at least they say so ). The SCCA doesn't have a contingency for Nissan in Club Racing or Solo. Does anyone else know where this would apply? Just parts?

"Race Trucks" are for homosexuals.

At least Renault-Nissan compete in Formula 1.

Dave:
When does the issue get mailed to subscribers, and then hit the news stands?

McNab who resigned in March was the VP who took away the motorsports budget and put it toward cach back rebates. Hopefully we won't have this issue next year at Nissan!

Email from Nissan - They sent this as a word doc but I made it a pdf.
Its Coming Flyer.pdf

This is announcing the release of a parts catalog. I can't do much with a stock car but I hope that someone might find the news useful.

Ed- Sorry, I just saw this. Nissan Sport Magazine's spring issue was put in the mail the first week of April. The vast majority of our subscribers should have their copy by now. Newsstand sales (Borders, Barnes and Noble and Hastings) started last month and we added almost 200 outlets to the list nationwide.
