Brake question for track warriors
Look at the StopTech 350z brake test on the Zeckhausen Racing website, and you will see that just adding a front BBK will reduce the heat that the stock rear brakes see.
For the best pricing on StopTech (also carries AP Racing) check out username PaulGT in the marketplace>classified>vendor classifieds>brakes section.
I am not sure I would want to go with a BBK because of knockback issues, though. See info below...

Not sure if OEM Brembos have this issue?

if your going to track you car then the yearly maintenace of putting knockback springs in will be just one of the things you will have to maintain. just because you throw "race" parts on does not mean you don't have to maintain them. even the bbk with springs you have to replace them (per one of the other guys on the knockback thread.

Yes, poor word choice on my part, but it is the brakes that exacerbate the issue (and there is no other hub choice that I am aware of).

My personal opinion, which is what Billy was asking for, is to stick with a known winner. YOMV.

an opinions is exactly what I am looking for, hence the thread, so keep them coming. I love all the input. I just read all i can and make my own decision from there. Leading me to ask about cons with the Rotoras.
Stacy I saw that email going around as well, the feedback was good to read...thanks!

i was just wondering if any of you track stars out there have used the Racing Brake two piece rotor (2016). seems like a more feature filled and well built unit that the Stoptech two piece. thoughts?

I have seen Scott and Mike B driving Mike's Z at a lot of events with the Meghan's, under very severe conditions and with a lot of TT hp, at brake eating configurations like CalSpeedway, and they have held up very well. Mike B can run anything he wants, whether sponsored or not, and if it isn't the fastest and best he can find for his purposes, believe me he will not run it. The stress they are putting on their system given their lap times is very much more than 99% of the drivers are going to be laying down. I suspect that they are at almost 170mph coming out of the Roval at Cal Speedway, then hauling it down to 45-50mph going into the compound "double 90 degree" segment of Turns 3 & 4 with three/four downshifts heel toe from sixth gear and thresh hold braking all the way. That is monster heat gain. Ten times a session. Then swap tires and run another group. Eight to ten sessions a day. They work.
I run the 14.25" AP Racing all around with a larger rear hat and sleeved rotor bolts on the rears to cope with the heat, and they work fab, but they cost more.
If you are going to stay NA, the Stop Techs are a fine kit. I cooked mine totally at Cal Speedway before switching to AP, but believe it was the incremental difference in speeds from FI that just took it over the tolerance. Before that they were just fine. For a high performance street, moderate track use unit, quality and price, performance and dependability, they are a very outstanding option.

Quality rotors are important. But the driver's influence is huge on the amount of heat the system will have to deal with.
I'd go easy on fancy rotor treatment in favor of good, plainer rotors. You'll go through them plenty fast in any case.
I run two pieces plain Stoptech rotors (vented but no slots or holes) because that's all the good, plain rotors I could find...
i didn't know who used glue either. but the features "looked" pretty good. i don't even care about "rotor treatment," just the amount of heat that the rotor could dissipate (without going to a BBK).
I have looked over Steve Mitchells Time Attack car at his shop M-Workz and he has been using the 13" Stoptechs on the front and Brembo Track on the rear without problems. Now that he added the Wolf TT system he says he may upgrade to the 14'' Stoptechs all around. This car along with Scott and Mike is one of the fastest Zs around.
