Talking I'm a winner!

I'm really excited! I just raced in my 2nd autocross and came in first place in my class driving my 2003 Touring! I'm in the AT class (that's the one for basically unmodified cars with street tires). Check out http://www.rmsolo.org/msp_eventpts.php?rep=1_20080420SS and look up "Max Lawson".

I had a lot of fun and can't wait to go again.

Wooohoo!

i think autox is as just fun as raceways, but my friends don't feel the same way.

Congratulations!

Did you do know that autocrossing is as addictive as crack and just as bad for your bank account?

If by raceway you mean a circuit, then they aren't even near the same ballpark in skill or fun.

If by raceway you mean quartermile, then I'd rather drive to the grocery store than do quartermile.

Either way, Congrats on your victory!

Oh come on now, we all know that crack is probably cheaper!

(Not really, at least you can keep re-using the parts that you bought.)

I am running BFG g-force T/A KDWs on the back and Michelin Pilot Sports on the front. The Pilots were on the car when I got the Z in January and I just replaced the rears a few weeks ago.

A passenger on some of my runs thought that it would help understeer if I made the fronts BFGs. I'm thinking that me learning how to drive better would make a bigger difference so I'm leaving it the way it is for now.

While "going square" (same width tires on all four corners) will help reduce the understeer, "fixing the driver" will help even more.

I've seen people spend thousands (and thousands) on tires, wheels, suspension, intake, headers, exhaust, aero, and get beat (on raw time) by a good driver in an H Stock car on street tires.

Smile

This past weekend we had a Memorial Day double down in Colorado Springs and it was a lot of fun. Over the two days there were a total of 4 different 350Zs that showed up.

On Sunday I got 1st place again in my class (see http://www.rmsolo.org/msp_eventpts.php?rep=1_20080525SS ) by less than a 1/10th of a second and on Monday I placed 3rd (see http://www.rmsolo.org/msp_eventpts.php?rep=1_20080526SS ) which I was disappointed about. On every run I had at least one big mistake (I hit my 1st cone on run 2) and know I could have taken at least a second off my time if I'd tried harder.

There is an autocross school that our region is offering in a couple of weeks that I think will help me be faster.

Even with my unfortunate result on Monday I was able to steal 1st in my class for the season thus far! Hopefully I can keep it together to win it all for 350Zs everywhere!

I just got victory number 4 for the season today! See http://www.rmsolo.org/msp_eventpts.php?rep=1_20080608SS .

It was a really great course and I had a lot of fun. I was able to improve significantly on my prior scores.

I'm solidifying my 1st place spot in my class and I beat my nearest competitor by over a second!

Yeah, I'm completely stock. I haven't modified a thing. I am running BFG g-force T/A KDWs on the back and Michelin Pilot Sports on the front. Eventually I'll replace the fronts with KDWs as well.

I have some video on the web from an autocross school I attended. Check it out at here. There is also video of my wife driving the Z (she just learned stick a few days ago!).
