Hey Adam...the ratings on these helmets are good, but do you know if they are DOT approved. I need a new helmet but the track I race at has a rule that they have to be DOT approved. Thanks and those are very good prices

very good point Shaun - the only DOT approved helmets I see are for motorcycle and dirt bike use. Snell 2005 is approved by every racing organization I am aware of

I just checked with Simpson product line (they do alot of drag racing apparell) and the SA2005 also can have a DOT rating. SA products are for car racing.

I put some more info in my post above yours....I thought it might be some help.
wow i never realized that, but that's good to know.
seems kind of ridiculous for an auto racing helmet to have dot approval since they're illegal to wear while driving a car on public roads

Its Bradenton....The track manager also said I needed to wear a full fire suit, but I just were the jacket. Like I said, I think its their own stupid rule and every time I go they come up with new ones

You're right about that....but maybe Simpson is DOTing their SA rated helmets in case someone uses that SA rated helmet while riding a motorcycle on the street.Probably some liabilty reasons...
